Never personally known a women gambler, never seen one n a bookie, not that i go in them really but its always men walking in and out, and none of any of my female friends would have a clue,  and there are none on here that i know of either, apart from the ones that pretend to be women.

gamblers are nearly all either fairly stupid or very intelligent.

women tend to be more towards the average end of intelligence. they would regard gambling as being for idiots. and they wouldn't be sharp enough in a mathematical sense to do gambling as something serious. have you have ever seen a woman use a spreadsheet, never mind be a computer programmer? i'm sure there are some, but not many. if youve ever tried to get a female cashier in a bookies to understand anything vaguely complicated, youll know what i mean!

yes they play bingo! and scratchcards! the not very bright female plays those, whereas the not very bright male has a few quid on the footy or horses.

when i say not very bright, im not being mean. i just mean people who arent likely to be spending friday nights pouring over spreadsheets to come up with their bets. ie 99% of the population.

agree with bob
I would say that women have more sense .. but i think male testosterone plays a part
We want to beat the system .. we want to feel we are winners when in reality gambling as a whole is for mugs , men then get caught up in the cycle of chasing losses (we refuse to lose) where a woman will have a flutter more for fun & accept they'll probably lose as soon as they pay their money , women probably never win much but will also never lose the house !

Collected a bet from laddies a few weeks back for Murray spoty, they paid out early i read it in the paper on the way to work.  Went in with my slip, she said, i paraphrase "no we dont pay out on events that havent happened yet, that is like our policy man". She must have thought i was the biggest try-it-on merchant ever, like i was just trying to collect my winnings on the 3.30 at uttoxeter even though it was 10am and the race hadnt been run yet.  I tried to explain that they were paying out early as a gimmick and she really needed persuading to ring up customer services to sort it out.  In the end i asked her well what price is Murray for spoty.  After a few minutes trying to find the market she said oh thats funny, theyre only betting on second place.  Exactly.  Felt sorry for her really, was only young and on her own and clearly under trained.

Women cashiers make me laugh.  Was trying to get my money back on a top runscorer bet once when the player didnt play.  She didnt understand that it was a void bet and even started trying to explain that in cricket some players dont bat because they are bowlers.   It was Marlon Samuels, he wasnt even in the starting XI ffs, i mean a woman cashier explaining the rules of cricket.  To me, I mean me.  Honestly.

have you have ever seen a woman use a spreadsheet, never mind be a computer programmer?

Computer programming in the early days was dominated by women, so there must be a large cultural element in determining these things. In America, soccer is a girls' sport. In Britain, rounders is.

My missus likes to have a bet when we go racing, but it doesn't interest her at any other time. Having said that I had to put £20 on Tropics for her yesterday because she saw it on The Morning Line, and that was her only winner when we went to York last week.
I think women would rather go shopping than waste money gambling.

I know one woman who likes a bet once or twice a week and she's pretty good.  Also the women staff in my local Koral are pretty knowledgeable although they will switch their TV over to Homes under the hammer etc if there are no male staff on.

Women gamble all the time.

It's a game called 'bareback'.

It's fun. High stakes though, you could lose your health, 30% of your income or, if you're really unlucky, both.

Women are more risk adverse then men..it is their nature
but there are some women gamblers

However women like the lottery, scratch card and bingo sort of things
they deem they can win large amounts for small stakes(relatively little risk)
but they can get hooked on the gambling addiction as men do

My main fear is...will they stop men gamblingShocked
they seem intent in stopping men doing anything else
(no smoking indoors, no lads mags, etc)
..and even worse the BBC want us to watch women's footballCry

If a woman goes in to a bookies, she's just gonna' have to listen to so much crap, she'll wish she hadn't bothered!

The few that do bet will just be dodging pervs if she's a looker, and probably even if she isn't, get asked if she needs help filling in a slip and get repeatedly told by OAP guessers called Doug that spend all day, every day in there, spunking their pension in 50p increments that "We don't get many ladies in here". Faceless internet betting must be even more of a blessing for women generally than it is to me, for meaning I rarely have to come in to contact with FOBT players.

My missus does £5 in bets every Saturday. I'll run her over to the bookies and she goes in and does her bets.

She loves watching Jeff Sterling and she ticks off her bets one by one ie. she does a lot of those both teams to score bets. She like playing bingo so I can see the similarities but she's a hopeless gambler, getting an average of 1 or 2 bets up a season. Keeps her happy though.

I on the other hand never go near a bookies. I may play poker all day but I've done just 3 or 4 bets all year so far.

I used to work for HillBillies - these cashiers sound like prime management material to me! Seriously, if I ever had to phone a manager and one of the women answered, I'd just disconnect the call. Completely clueless.

Good at giving BJs to senior management though.
