If only we'd known before he had that particular shag - we could have distracted him and saved the world from having to put up with that t0sser for the last 50 years

I would say Poppy's photo is from 1960.
|
By:
A year or two later but close enough
|
By:
1958 more like it
|
By:
I'd put it just a few years later. Hindley and Brady in their arrest garb would fit into that pic. That was 65.
|
By:
I assumed it's the twist they're doing which was '60.
|
By:
Sorry - missed Poppy's reply in writing mine
|
By:
It is a significant photo (of sorts)
|

1958 4/7
1959 ev 1960 11/8 1961 2/1 1962 4/1 the above prices are based on the odds you would have got at Aldershot dogs for a 4 dog race |

have a search for the duke of wellington. there is a photo of him taken in 1844, 8 years before his death. this is a man who was born in 1769. he was already 20 when the french revolution began. and there's a photo of him. incredible.

So if I'd had a gun back in Aldershot in the early 60s I'd have aimed to the right

One day I'll show them all, thought young Wittgenstein, I'll be the most famous person ever to come out this school. Not quite Ludwig, not quite. Even back then he was on the far right. |

I have posted this photo on here before. It was in some of my grandads war stuff (medals, photos, papers etc.). On the back is written:
"some of the boys having breakfast - Christmas morning, December 1941" |

Wonder where this was? UK, Salisbury Plain?
Pearl Harbour was that month also. It may have been about to/just have taken place |

It may have been about to/just have taken place His service record shows that from Nov 1940 to Jan 1942 he was in the "Middle East". He was awarded the Military Medal (which is awarded for bravery) in 1940 when he was part of the British Expeditionary Force. Unfortunately, I have no idea of the act for which it was awarded. He died when I was six and it is a big regret that I didn't know about it to ask my nan before she died 13 years later. I asked my Mum but she wasn't even aware of him having been awarded it. |

Having said that, it doesn't look like the Middle East!

No, it's obviously bitterly cold

My paternal grandfather in 1915.
. http://i43.tinypic.com/9u2gc6.jpg Due to some excellent internet research from a fellow forumite, I now know that mt grandad, and one of his brothers, who was killed in WW1, are listed on a war memorial in Cambridgeshire. Also that he had 4 older sisters that none of my generation knew existed. |
