ciggarette ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ffs cant even say f@g!
By:
didn't realise he was that old, he must have been still wrestling in his 50's
By:
93 is a great age. R.I.P.
By:
my mild mannered grandma never raised her voice
then commentator ken walton ? and mc manus started on a saturday afternoon she used to hurl abuse at mc manus ha ha!!! |
By:
same here mo with my great aunt, the language made you blush

Some great wresting on a Saturday afternoon in the 60's and 70's including 3 Bradford lads. Dennis Mitchell, Jim Breaks (whom I both met) and the great Les Kellett.
By:
I absolutely hate wrestling but you have to smile at these 'ladies' ha ha!!!!
By:
Amazing how old some of these guys were at the height of their fame .If alive today Les Kellet would be 98 !
By:
indeed, Les was born just a mile from me. Used to train with Alan Dennison. Pound for pound I reckon Les was the toughest of the lot.
By:
The best of the lot by a long way was heavyweight Bill Robinson.
By:
i said pound for pound
By:
I saw Kellett v McManus in Leeds.Kellett "slipped" entering the ring and "banged " his head .He spent the rest of the bout hobbling around the ring like a man in a daze, with blood pouring down his face. The acting was tremendous.
By:
Pound for pound,I'd still go for Robinson.
By:
the match between Les and Leon Arras (actor Brian Glover) was tremendous fun not without skill. Here it is. Both very funny guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_zPH3u65H8
By:
Some of the guys who were good amateurs,Robinson,Joyce,Dempsey etc.would forget the showbiz, and actually wrestle competitively for a couple of rounds, before going back to the "script".
By:
I can suddenly hear my late mother: "Ooh, I 'ate that bloody Mick McManus. 'E's 'orrible!"
Staggering to discover he was actually a couple of years older than her. |

"Not the ears!"
He and his tag team partner Steve Logan were the ugly men of the ring |
By:
men wanted to be him
and women wanted to hit him with their handbags |
By:
Men wanted to be him?
He was a barrel chested fella with a bad wig and a bad attitude who used to wrestle around in a pair of oversized blue underpants in his mid 50s I don't think I ever wanted to be him |
By:
99.999 per cent of men wanted to be him
By:
except for his ears
By:
Is Jackie Pallo still alive, him and mick always seemed to be the 2 everyone wanted to see on a sat aft !
By:
no, Jackie bought it about 6 years ago.
By:
RIP Mick
Happy Days |
By:
he was almost as famous as the beatles in his pomp
By:
And much more entertaining !
By:
Nice to have enjoyed a sport that wasent bent..............RIP

93 is an incredible age, he was a household name in his day. The wrestling was extremely popular back then. Giant Haystacks, Big Daddy, Kendo Nagsaki, Rollerball Rocco and of course Catweazle.
Here is Mick McManus versus Catweazle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_PFJMRn72I |
By:
Billy Torontos, Andy Robins (and Hercules), Jackie Palo, Bobby Barnes, some great characters
By:
I wouldn't say 93 is incredible, Slippy. A good innings, certainly.
By:
I'm a 100,000/1 shot to make 93.
