Just looking at Mitsubishi's details of the new "Mirage", as an exciting gift for my niece, who is heading off to uni later this year.

It really looks like an attractive car, for the money, but then why make comments,  in the on line promotion, like this?

"The Mirage's body panel surfaces have been specially stiffened to decrease panel flex at speed, thus increasing aerodynamic efficiency"

In the name of Jesus, and a few disciples, who are they trying to fool?

If they can make a statement as stupid as that, what substance does the rest of their blurb have?

I'm actually trying to make a list of all TV ads that use the word "Technology" in them!

It's getting beyond a joke and I must remember to make a note when I see them as otherwise I forget!

I will start a new thread, for the guys to put up anything they see.

that would be useful in formula 1.  not quite sure how it helps your niece when she's doing 30 around town or even 70 on the motorway.  my "favourite" ads are shampoo ones with a little animation and some sciency sounding words thrown in to dazzle the consumer.

Shampoo and moisturiser are certainly up there in the "technology" stakes.

....."and now with 'Pro Argin Technology'....is just one of many!

My favourite is the "cold cure" which states

"may help to relieve the symptons of a cold"

Almost every word tells you it wont do anything really to get rid of the cold.

Every disinfectant on the market appears to kill 99.9% of all known germs. Nothing like covering your backside.

flaccid body surfaces can be a real problem in social situations.

indeed, they have to cover themselves incase a new resistant germ comes along.  in reality, in laboratory tests, the disinfectant kills 100% of germs.

that's only 43 germs, you'll need at least 1000 to have a chance.

82% agree from a survey of 92 women etc. Can anyone explain how a company the size of l'oreal can get away with using such a small survey?

i have to say i hate all adverts.  i find them to be very rude.  if you're reading a book and i pull it away and implore you to buy my product, you'd rightly hit me.  i'm starting to find that websites have an advert that fills the whole screen and i have to find the little [x] in the corner.  it's just plain rude and puts me off buying the product being peddled.

You're missing out...here in Canada when we get ads for drugs they tell you how the drug is great and will cure your ailment then they stick the umbrella up and tell you of the side effects, in many cases one of them, amusingly, is death...doesn't really make you want to run out and stock up on their shi'ite product.

Reading the side effects of prescription drugs is a fair reason for deciding not to take them!

I take four different pills each day, and some of the side effects are to give you the very condition, for which you are taking
them to alleviate!
