I can't compare different bands - I just enjoy them differently
The Beatles and Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin ... early Al Stewart, Tom Paxton are names that spring to mind. To appreciate the Beatles now (if you weren't alive in the sixties) you have to realise what they had that was different in their early days and the level they reached latterly.
The sixties was a terrific time to be a teenager we also had The Who, The Yardbirds, The Kinks and Bob Dylan.
I'm currently listening to the United States of America [ released 1968 I think ] it would be termed psychedelic these days. early electronic rock 'n' roll no guitars.
