this doesnt involve us at the moment, but could well do in the future, we have a spare room size around 6ft by 4 ft, some say this could count as a box room etc and wouldnt qualify as a spare bedroom, anyone know if there is a size rule on this matter. thx

Elis, is there any reason why "in the future" you will still be out of work and claiming Housing benefit. Is there any chance you may work & pay for your housing costs from a wage.

millions work yet still get Housing Benefit which is basically a subsidy for poverty pay, as are tax credits

we subsidise employers to make huge profits and then pay no tax on them

Millions of working council housing residents effectively get housing benefit anyway since council rents are about half of private rents.

If you have children because of children's tax credits you effectively only get to keep around 29% of the next 7.5k you earn above 15k for each child such that if you had 4 children and earned 46k you would effectively only keep 28.5% of your earnings between 15 and 45K.  Further, someone on 15k gets free school meals, free dental care, free prescriptions and housing benefit.  Whilst someone on 46k with 4kids gets none of those, only keeps 8.5k of the 30k between 15 and 45k they earn, and for current adults and children under 20 will have to pay back 50k's worth of student debt.

Better to earn 15k in a simple stress free job as a postie or a mini cab driver, get all those benefits, than work 60 hrs a week flogging you r's off for 46k in a financial institution.

“We are aware of research suggesting that small bedrooms under 70 square feet are not applicable under the national reforms."

“If there are individual cases that need to be reviewed we would look at them closely. However, guidance states we have to be led by how many bedrooms the landlord classifies a property as having. There is no minimum or maximum bedroom size included in the legislation."

Life was easier back in the 60s, most people were content with what they had.

Working class dads went to work, mums stayed at home.

We had a cheap car, and we had a fortnights holiday every year down the south coast.

My dad would never be rich, but for the most part, we were happy.

Most people are similar to people in the 60s, they just get on with it. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad but mostly as I say just "getting on with it".

I feel there was hope back then though .. i was born in the 70's & there definitely felt like hope in the 80's even though i was only a kid

everything's just doom & gloom nowadays as soon as you switch on the television it's .. Tax this .. Murder that Sad
