Yes, I say the cat scene wan't nice, but it had a purpose. It was a very good way of portraying the sheer depravity that is going through the prisoners minds. A horrible scene, but with a meaning, unlike the bunny boiling which was just for pure shock value.

It's one of the films that I have seen so many times before I honestly don't think I could ever watch it again despite it's brilliance.
It's well documented that actor Brad Davies who played Billy Hayes took an intentional drug overdose after being diagnosd with AIDS. |

This was the first film i watched when my dad brought a VCR, i was about 7 years old

I saw it on a double bill with Taxi Driver at a cinema in Manchester - back in those days you didn't have to leave the cinema when the film finished - I went into the cinema at about 2pm and came out at about 11pm having watched both films twice

I've never been on holiday to Turkey after watching that film.
Lord help us if they get full membership to the EU. They didn't fight fair at Gallipoli either and got Churchill the sack. |

Dr.C, it was almost entirely filmed in Malta.
Having said that, I never wanted to visit Turkey either. |
