I can't come up with ten but here's a starter...

1. Elvis Costello - Some club/pub in Fishguard - Went with my girlfriend. We BOTH fell asleep.

2. Eric Clapton - Free Trade Hall in Mcr - Expected Layla and all that good stuff. He played blues dirge (new stuff) all night. I left before the end.

Very similar to Clapton , I saw Nik Turner ( of Hawkwind , Space Ritual fame ) advertised at a local small place , brill i thought , a great night of Space rock by the God of Spack rock.

Hmmm never realised it was another of his persona's - Nik Turner's All Stars Blues outfit , enjoyable so not quite what the thread is about but not what I was expecting.

I've played Space Ritual so many times I think I know it backwards The Priest :-)

Billy Bragg. Party political 2-hour whine/snorefest. Seriously put me off going to gigs for 10 years.

Black Sabbath - awful racket.

Lynyrd Skynyrd had a bit of an "off" night when I saw them. Can't really say I wish I hadn't seen them, just very disappointed.

ThePriest - Orgone Accumulator does it for me :-)

Degs - I had a ticket to see Synyrd in Manchester but the same day I caught some horrendous bug that had me spewing up all over the place so I missed the gig :-(

Crass at Northampton Roadmenders

Trying to avoid being puked on by glued-up anarcho-punks and beaten up by sieg-heiling fascists.

There are several thousand more entertaining things I've done in my life

Skynyrd were ok, but very "loose" - not what I expected from such a famous guitar band. I remember Ronnie van Zant trying to pull them together on stage (literally) when they messed up a number. Maybe they'd had a drink Grin

Forgotten about the eponymous and very well-named Crass Roger.....same when I saw them too.
That also brings to mind the amount of scrapping at another gig around the same time I went to...Sham 69.

All this talk of Crass & Sham 69 reminds me of another one to add to the list

3. Angelic Upstarts - Somewhere in Port Talbot - Skinhead scrapfest from start to finish...totally ruined the event for the rest of us...thanks you baldy headed clowns.

Focus, early 70's. They were the main band & played for 30 minutes then fecked off - no encore. Total rip off merchants.

Floyd many times when they were sort of resident at UFO in West End
Maynard Ferguson a jazz combo that latched onto the festival circuit in the late sixties. I think that was their name or is that a tractor?
Pretty Things .turned up 2 hours late played for about 20 minutes and fd off
Ray Charles at the Hammersmith Odeon. He was just too old and his big band and the raylettes carried the show in glitzy but disappointing fashion.

Took a new gf to see New Order one time in Edinburgh. The baztards turned up an hour late, played maybe 7/8 songs, the lights went down and they fecked off, off the stage, through the audience and out the door, without even playing an encore.

A really shiite night and I didn´t even get my oats.

Oasis at Wembley Arena. Liam just stood at the mike with his hands behind his back and whilst they sound ok it's too rigid and they could just be miming to the record - no point in seeing them live at all.

Tangerine Dream Free Trade Hall, cant remember year, thought the roadies were tuning up until I realised it was halfway through concert, should have taken something before to appreciate the dull monotony

Stone Roses Reading '96

As lively as The Tin Woodman with rigor mortis.

Happy Mondays - Town & Country club, Kentish Town.

Stereo MC's were the support and were brilliant.

Happy Mondays due on  at 10pm didn't appear on stage  until well after midnight.

When they did appear, it was immediately obvious that they were in no condition to play - absolute shambles of a gig
