says it happened last Friday while he and his family were seeing friends.

Whoever spiked my drink with mind altering drugs and put me in A&E with a psychotic fit. Did you think of the damage you would cause?

Ben Fogle
The adventurer says he was putting his children to bed after drinking at a pub in Gloucestershire when he "flipped".

He tweeted: "Whoever spiked my drink with mind altering drugs and put me in A&E with a psychotic fit. Did you think of the damage you would cause?"

Ben Fogle, 39, says he tried to jump out of a window and had to be restrained by his wife.

"I was ranting, marching up and down, hitting walls, trying to jump out of windows," he added.

He says he has never taken recreational drugs and felt like he was having an "out of body experience".

Ben Fogle's wife Marina and the couple's friends say they managed to lock him in a room while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.

He was then taken to hospital, sedated and kept in overnight.

The presenter has described how he spent days afterwards worrying that he was "going crazy".

He says test results have since come back showing that there was no neurological cause and that doctors believe the incident was due to LSD or a similar drug.

If I could just add that you would also be under the impression that, after those three hours, no more than four or five minutes had passed.

As a seasoned old acid-dropper, one of my pet hates are people who claim to have done it once or twice, who, when asked, say: `I thought I could fly, amd I  saw pink elephants`. For sure, it`s the best fun you`ll ever have for a fiver.
If I can find some friends to do it with, we all spend the night creased up with laughter. Other times, I`ll just sit at home with the stereo on, enjoying the amazing visuals, and sounds. No straight lines, `seeing` the sound waves, (a baritone sax producing an unfolding `mushroom cloud, or the heart monitor machine`s `beep, beep` oscillations for a higher pitched instrument, etc.), seeing the carpet or curtain pattern in its full glory, but raised six inches from the actual carpet or curtain, just floating there. Love it!

Are flashbacks still occurring where the carpet adopts a wave motion and the pattern overlaps and transforms a full spectrum dance routine for a few seconds only to relax into calm still waters once again?

MadVlad has nailed what happened I would say.

I did witness someone have a dreadful trip one night which was quite shocking to watch. We were having a house party, in the front room was a roaring open fire and the room was decorated with red wallpaper. He thought he was in hell and the devil was out to get him, he had a seizure/fit of sorts and ended up in A and E. After that night he had nightmares for weeks afterwards and never took a drug of any sort again, not even a joint. It took him quite awhile to get over it and he was of a strong consitution but this got the better of him.

Euphoria was experienced when my children were born healthy.

Me and my best mate, almost 30 years ago, sat in a hospital corridor all night long when it was touch and go if his new born daughter was going to make it. When the doc said she was going to be okay, that was euphoria.

No drugs required.

Only been drunk a few times, started to drink in 1987, stopped in 1996. No fun in puking up and waking up with a headache imo. Life may be boring to those who like hallucinogenic drugs, but I've thoroughly enjoyed all my years on this lump of rock we call home.

it's a weak line of argument squeezefirmly.

it seems to be that you've never "needed" to take recreational drugs and you enjoy your life to the full, ergo those who "need" to take recreational drugs must in some way or other be have areas of their life that are deficient, whence the "need" to drugs arises.

i hate to shatter your terribly priggish outlook, but the bit you've missed is that no-one "needs" to take recreational drugs.

they take them because they are fun. responsible recreational drug use is really good fun.

that's why people do it. It's enjoyable. millions no doubt still enjoy all the riches of life you value, but they also enjoy some other experiences on top of them.

Classic - is it.

61 years old, and not taken any recreational, and may I add, illegal, drugs.

No doubt all you bad boys could handle it, but some can't, and they go on to other things for bigger 'hits', and therein start the problems.

Supply and demand escalates, and small peddlers become bigger peddlers, small distributors become bigger distributors, the kingpin at the top wants it all, and he's prepared to kill other peddlers, distributors and kingpins for it, and there you have drug wars. And an increase in crime from smackheads and their ilk who mug old ladies and idiots for money for their next 'hit'.  Tell them you've got no money they'll take your phone, jewellery, ipad, anything they can flog down a back alley. T hey are 100% pure facking scum, and it all started from wanting a bigger 'hit.'

If you told people in the 1960s that gangs of somalis and jamaicans would be fighting in our fair capital city for control of drug territory, you'd have been laughed at. Not forgetting the asians, who do their fair share, and the low life indigenous white scum doing their bit as well.

And it will only get worse as long as there is a need to supply.

Who knows, in 50 years time, London may be as bad as Mexico City?

Drug lords getting their bad boys to dig mass graves in the countryside for dead gang members who lost their turf war, bent coppers who will kill witnesses rather than go to prison.

I won't be here to see it, neither will my children, but my grandchildren probably will.

It erased all social and personal barriers and the train of thought is more connected without self consciousness or pretentious under currents. Like our daily worries are not important and it`s time to concentrate on our suppressed love for one another.

I guess it is similar in a way to the euphoria of love and life which terminally ill people sometimes experience. A pure appreciation of one another and all things living and visible.

If it's made legal, the govt will want to control it.

Where would you suggest this legal supply for the whole of the UK is stored?

Somewhere central like Manchester, where it would get raided and robbed within 14 days?

Or somewhere down south like London, where it would get raided and robbed within 14 days?

Or somewhere up north like Glasgow, where it would get raided and robbed within 14 days?

Ot the correct amoount allocated to each GP surgery up and down the land, where they would all get robbed the day before the junkie has his appointment?

Assuming it survives the journey from Afghanistan or Colombia, how much will the UK pay for its supply?

Or do you expect the price to drop to a more sensible level to suit all ther addicts needs, poor or rich?

You wouldn't want to deny fellow druggies their drugs if they were unemployed scumbags would you?

Great, but imagine that feeling, on demand, for a fiver. Without the lifetime`s responsibility there is with children!

... but the bit you've missed is that no-one "needs" to take recreational drugs.they take them because they are fun. responsible recreational drug use is really good fun.that's why people do it. It's enjoyable. millions no doubt still enjoy all the riches of life you value, but they also enjoy some other experiences on top of them.

Spot on.

when do recreational drugs stop being 'fun' - in your opinion ?

My simple rule is: control your drugs, don`t let them control you

Supply and demand escalates, and small peddlers become bigger peddlers, small distributors become bigger distributors, the kingpin at the top wants it all, and he's prepared to kill other peddlers, distributors and kingpins for it, and there you have drug wars. And an increase in crime from smackheads and their ilk who mug old ladies and idiots for money for their next 'hit'.  Tell them you've got no money they'll take your phone, jewellery, ipad, anything they can flog down a back alley. T hey are 100% pure facking scum, and it all started from wanting a bigger 'hit.'

Legaliation is the all-too obvious and simple solution. All drug-related gang crime gone. At a stroke.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE!

When they are no longer used to heighten the senses in a positive or interesting way.

Squeeze, that`s just a silly argument. If it was legalised, it would be on sale across the country, from numerous outlets, each one holding what, five?  ten? thousand pounds worth of stock. Virtually every ordinary shop on every High Street holds stock worth more than that, and  the world continues to spin without any problems.

Nobody wants £10k worth of toothpaste, condoms, cough mixture and anusol.

Plenty of people will want £10k worth of heroin.

I never touched drugs until I was in the gay world for four years.  The thing was though that as I did not smoke then some drugs were not possible or not the same.  I also found that I preferred gettng drunk to most drugs.  However, one of the best nights of my life was when I took acid.

My girlfriend at the time knew all about drugs although she just smoked weed, but she knew what to do.  She made sure friends knew we were taking it and had their phone numbers to hand.  We had half a tab to start with and it was great.  So the next time we took it we had a full tab and it was fantastic.  The sex we had was out of this world.  Unfortunately though we were at it naked on the living room floor and her dog went wild.  It had always been a horny thing, and something set him off because the next thing we knew he was making love to my arm and would not let go Shocked  By the time we got him off me my arm was a lump of meat.  My girlfriend called friends as we were both out of it trippiing and they came straight over and saw the injury but said it was alright and we did not have to go to hospital.

Unfortunately the come down the next day was so bad that I have not touched acid since, although reading this I remember the good times Happy

annie, I don`t know what happened there, because another beautiful aspect to LSD, for me at least, is the absolute lack of a come dowm. Just a gentle drift back into everyday life.
