Personally I wouldn't drive with a layer of snow on the roof of the motor in case I had to slam on the brakes and it ended up on the windscreen, common sense really.

when I was 17 I got a right bollocking from a copper for driving along with a tiny little window scraped out of my snow-covered windscreen. Lucky not to get a fine, though, as he was a friend of the family.
