Hard to even contemplate how bad things would have been back then.

I can't imagine any one single area being better than today!

Many babies died at birth, as did many women whilst giving birth!

Very many children did not survive past their fifth birthday, and average life expectancy, for a man, was around twenty five years.

That is twenty five years of misery and discomfort! Wet, miserable, stinking, louse ridden discomfort.

Hideous suffering with teeth decay, septic sores, broken bones and disease.

Rarely a half decent meal and, depending on where in the world you happened to be, a real risk of being killed
by animals, if not by fighting between yourselves.

The lucky ones would have been those that died at birth!

Problem – As a serf your local noble lord had the right to shag your intended bride on the eve of your wedding, so you couldn't guarantee your first born would be yours.

Solution – Pick the most ugly wench in the shire.

Evolutionary Result – The English are the most ugly nation on the planet.

Our species has been about 150,000 thousand years
it is less than 200 years since we have mastered science... things have changed a lot
in a relatively short time

Will we  go on progressing , will we destroy ourselves or will we regress

A reasonable question, since from all the billions of planets in our galaxy..we have detected no radio waves

If you were one of the nobility life was probably not that bad 1000 years ago
You had a nice warm castle, servants to wait on you, you could eat, drink and sh*g to your hearts content
you could go out hunting and if you got bored  go and kill a few peasants

I am not sure life has changed that much for the rich...except I think the law may look down on them killing

Hey ebulGery

150,000 years you say .. where did we suddenly appear from then Silly

I agree things have changed dramatically the last 100 years even , let alone 1,000

Life was very grim back then (but still is today imo) the poor lived in squalor & were forced to steal/poach just to survive with severe punishment/real imprisonment if caught & i can't imagine what it'd been like during the great battles of 1066 etc , they were brutal times

although they did have a certain sense of freedom that we'll never have today

ebulGery,

"A reasonable question, since from all the billions of planets in our galaxy..we have detected no radio waves as yet... indicating some other intelligent life form"

I think I can answer that,
All intelligent life forms that have evolved in solar systems across our galaxy for example have not evolved long enough to reach the stage where they can send radio wave signals that will have had time to reach us. We are first realm with 3 space dimensions & one time dimension.
Intelligent life that evolved in binary systems (2 stars) are at the second & higher realm of reality.
They have more dimensions their signals travel beyond the speed of light and though bombarding the Earth we can't recgnise them as  both the extra dimensions & speed distorts them & we can only pick them up as Solar Radiation.
Tri- star systems are the 3rd & final realm. Intelligent life forms are fluid & have little physical structure or planetary mass & exist in multi dimensional space time. It is not known whether they need to actually send any form of electromagnetic signals that we or binary star life forms could ever recognise.

Mr Moonbeam,

"Hey ebulGery

150,000 years you say .. where did we suddenly appear from then"

Mr Moonbeam.

We were Solar Coded to evolve. Solar Coding is like the radiated energy version of the material DNA.
The Universe is the ultimate information system. (I use Universe in the same way as 'sheep' singular & plural - you can't have one Universe) Solar Coding is related to Binary Star Coding, Tri Star Coding, which in turn are encompassed within the Galactic & Universal Coding framework.
Put simply Solar Coding works through radiated energy from the Sun (but not exclusively) in its duality with changes in gravitational fields within the Earth's surface.  It is this duality that both shapes & drives our evolutionary cycle. And caused us too evolve – all predetermined.

See Anthropic Principle.
Report erse2 • January 14, 2013 8:08 AM GMT

"my absolutist theory"... I haven't mentioned anything about Dawkins.

I think the thing to take away from your posts, alas, is that you're a little bit mental. They aren't enlightening at all, and on final evaluation from a slightly selfish perspective, make you look like you lack an education and true understanding of the things you like to think you know about.

erse2

Why are you getting upset?

Two questions were asked:-

ebulGery,

"A reasonable question, since from all the billions of planets in our galaxy..we have detected no radio waves as yet... indicating some other intelligent life form?"

&

Mr Moonbeam,

“150,000 years you say .. where did we suddenly appear from then ?”

I answered both of them In a clear & concise way giving some detail that made sense and fits observation even linking the two answers together as one.

So you then appoint yourself  forum censor, then  make insulting remarks & tell me to stop explaining science, without any attempt to try & explain the two questions yourself.

You then go on to say that you never mentioned Dawkins. You did however post your pro Dawkins views on the thread I wrote “The God is Dead” Thread. Specifically attacking Dawkins influence that has fueled anti -religious anti Islamic and racist comments on this forum:-

erse2

“those carnivores too. you never hear them harping on about religion, but they don't mind a bit of murder.”

That erse makes you a liar!

And finally go on to say my views are 'uneducated' & not the least bit 'enlightening.'

And I’ll remind you again:-

erse2

“those carnivores too. you never hear them harping on about religion, but they don't mind a bit of murder.”

You seriously think your comment above is 'EDUCATED' & 'ENLIGHTENING?'

What a complete hypocrite! What a brain dead numpty!
You’ve shown yourself up in front of the whole forum. Erse? Arse would be more appropriate.

How is that a lie? And what does it have to do with Richard Dawkins or the scientific method? You're displaying the kind of logic that makes you look stupid and deranged, and tedious.

You seriously think your comment above is 'EDUCATED' & 'ENLIGHTENING?'

If I wanted to make a serious remark and be taken seriously, I'd wait for a more eloquent post to kickstart the discussion. You just ramble on and vaguely relate your ramblings to famous people without really having a clue to be perfectly honest.

You seriously need to up your game if your 'serious' posts are to be taken seriously.

Report northernlad5 • January 14, 2013 2:05 PM GMT
First point erse, you failed to deny any of the allegations I've just made, resorting to mindless insults instead which also engineered this argument & confirming what I just suspected.

There were two questions asked, which I answered SCIENTIFICALLY, it may not be accepted science for 1000 years, but there is absolutely no doubt that one day it will be. Had I attempted to use today’s understanding of accepted science I couldn't have answered either question.

So you now give your knowledge & understanding of science to answer two of the most profound questions facing mankind that were asked by other people on this forum:-

ebulGery,

"A reasonable question, since from all the billions of planets in our galaxy..we have detected no radio waves as yet... indicating some other intelligent life form?"

&

“Mr Moonbeam,

“150,000 years you say .. where did we suddenly appear from then ?”

The Forum is waiting?

Then why don’t you get your mate Richard Dawkins to come and answer them?

“God doesn't exist, god doesn't exist, god doesn't exist, god doesn't exist, listen to me everybody - god doesn't exist, god .........................................?”

I think we heard him the first time. Why doesn't he stick to trying to find out what we can possibly know. Rather than ranting on & on & on about something we can never know!
Report erse2 • January 14, 2013 2:11 PM GMT

saying you are delusional kind of points to the idea that I'm saying "you are wrong". A sane person would recognise this.

> The Forum is waiting?

I have my own thoughts on this but as I have not read the entire thread, I wouldn't like to repeat someone else.

> Then why don’t you get your mate Richard Dawkins to come and answer them?

For some reason you're associating Richard Dawkins with my opinion and I know why. You're the kind of idiot that will put words into my mouth so you can troll on about this subject for days on end, to maximise the number of people who will read your crazy thoughts.

I have created a separate thread for crazy people to post crazy theories. I would especially like you and polybot to provide your most outlandish thoughts. thanks.
