He will use every bargaining chip in his armoury to reduce any penalty if he fears a guilty verdict. But I suspect trying to persecute Max will be like nailing jelly to a wall.
A lot of big names won't be sleeping soundly for a little while as Max would undoubtedly blab all to save his own skin.

just couldn't happen to a nicer fellow...trouble is he's probably got the dirt on all the senior police, judiciary and politicians and so it wall all probably be much ado about nothing and he'll be released without charge....hope not though cos this has the potential to be the biggest scandal since Profumo.

Has he been arrested for noncery, or for covering it up? Either way, now that the gatekeeper is indisposed I predict an avalanche of revelations over the next few weeks, as previously terrified editors dust off some of the more lurid tales that Max was able to suppress.

If he's been done for Savilry, then the whole entertainment establishment will come crashing down like a pack of cards.
Apres Max le deluge!

He preempted this happening to him. If you read his comments when Starr was in the frame he said a lot of big names were frightened that they would get their collar felt, he was talking about himself.

Max has always appeared to be a fine and decent human being. I believe in our justice system and he is innocent until proven guilty. That said, I'll be cheering on the police and the CPS to get him banged up for a long time.

That's the ones of false accusations, perjury, harrassment, collusion, incorrect procceedures, corruption, false arrest etc etc etc.
I am looking forward to the court cases. That's the ones of false accusations, perjury, harrassment, collusion, incorrect procceedures, corruption, false arrest etc etc etc.
corroborative evidence and credible witnesses used to be needed but now the police are just bringing everyone in hopefully writs will be issued as plenty of these accusations will be downright lies and this kind of mud really sticks

Didnt MaxClifford represent that woman who made disgusting, entirely false, claims about the Hamiltons? Was all over the papers, should a writ be served against him for that?

I look forward to him calling Rebekah Brooks, Freddie Starr, Simon Cowell, Derek Hatton and a bunch of former Big Brother contestants as character witnesses.

As a few have remarked , the Police had better make sure this one is watertight , this is going to be one of those classic ' Released with out charges , he was just assisting us with our line of enquires and thank you for taking the time to help us out ' type endings for sure.

I would be surprised if the police hadn't checked and double checked their information before touching Max with a bargepole. If he was totally clean he would be self assured and able to rebut any accusations, this reaction suggests a case to answer.

My guess is a quiet word from 'upstairs' will be sufficient to see Mr Clifford back to doing what he does best , making the scum of the earth millioniares.

interesting to see how all this 'evidence' will be corroborated both in hall and clifford's case I fear we live in a world now where you just fire out the accusationgs and muddy people and their reputations
As has happened to several teachers and 'rapists'

This has now got seriously weird. Numerous well-known bbc presenters, politicians, and now Max Clifford, have suddenly been accused of being paedophiles, some thirty odd years after the event in most cases. We're supposed, presumably, to believe that this is because the Savile case has made people previously unwilling to come forward, more confident to do so. But that's obvious bullshit, people have been coming forward to make accusations against celebrities since...well forever, and many of those have been untrue. There are supposedly 450 reported assaults. That has to be absolute bollocks, surely. I know SOME people don't report assualts, and I've sympathy with them, but over 400? I'm not one to sit with the conspiracists but there are strings being pulled here. Something is very wrong indeed, and the timing re Leveson could be more than co-incidental.

we don't know what the accusations are The police have a poor record in sex cases to date and look like they are making up for it!!??? Guess we have to wait and see. But how do you present evidence and get a fair trial in front of a jury based on say - a 9 year old's evidence who is now 40. How do you examine evidence as a juror on someone who attended a drug fueled party when she was 15 and accuses a bloke 35 years later??!! There are going to be a few false accusations to come, I bet, and look to see how this will colour evidence of those who have really been abused.

Yes, but where is the information used in these arrests/questioning coming from? It surely can't be loads of people simultaneously going oh yeah, **** I was abused 35 years ago, NOW I should make a point of it? Are the police going over OLD accusations and taking them more seriously? Or did they find something at Savile's house?
I think Hall is so far the only one charged...other than the dead ones who the police and politicians have been swift to declare guilty without trial. It's all just so odd.

I would imagine if they "arrest" Clifford they may have something. Question is with modern media, has he been arrested or just taken in for questioning

why is it I am waiting for one of these to go wrong and the sh!t hits the fan I am remembering the asian family who had their door beaten down and were roughed up - the 'terrorists' and the 12 terrorists (asian) who turned out to be just students and the 5 airport workers who were 'terrorists' and were nothing of the sort hmmmmm!!! all of the above were dead certs at the time!!??

I wouldn't ever wish to attack the police, but arrest is not evidence, sometimes they **** stuff up, either out of malice or incompetence. I wouldn't point the finger here, in any way, but as I said earlier, it all seems really strange to me.

I've no idea what you're talking about moisok no. The only guy I can think of shot by the police on the London Underground was Jean Charles de Menezes, who was wholly innocent.

yes exactly he was innocent and they shot him they (the police ) also arrested 12 students and 5 airport workers on terrorist charges and likewise bashed down the door of an asian family
none of them were terrorists

Of all the people to surely, surely make those that made the allegations think about the repercussions of getting it wrong before they acted, Clifford would have to be pretty close to the top of any list.

well they didnt think in any of the cases i have mentioned and don't get me on to the other side of the argument
like where they have ignored evidence and not acted
time and time again
and the poor old basic copper caught up in it all - I blame the pc leadership everytime
I should think the festering politics of the police leadership stinks to high heaven.

Sure, I agree. What is worrying is how readily the police, press and politicians are pronouncing people guilty without trail. Or dare I say, prenoncing. I know this has all supposedly come from public calls but it looks very scripted to me.

most odd I do agree - amazing to be so critical of a great organisation - we need them badly but they are cutting more and more coppers and as for the top - well the inmates have taken over the institution - I really must shut up before I get a knock on the door ha ha!!

in a country where people can be locked up for eight years without charge and innocent people shot dead by police on the underground it does not surprise me if people are now being arrested with little or no evidence. seems to me the police conducting operation yewtree are running around like headless chickens rounding up anyone famous who may have had an accusation made against them in the past no matter how groundless or maybe vindictive that accusation may have been.

This is what happens when, for the past 15 years or so,the police have been recruiting people for the colour of their skin, their religion ,their politics and sexuality, as oppose their ability to make a good copper.

I think the basic copper has been undervalued and undermined by its leadership - quite simple really isn't it. I am so sad - I see what the force is now and it makes me choke with rage how they are told to work by those at the top.

I know a few good coppers, and a couple in intel as well. I'm not saying they're perfect, but they're not all monsters for sure.
I just genuinely, don't know what the hell is going on here. If it WAS me you were asking earlier TMF, the biggest celebrity scandal...ever...coinciding with the 'do we puzzle the press' debate in the house of commons seems an incredible coincidence, if it is indeed such.

yes but it is the leadership that holds the key - policy, practice and prosecution of said policies. they decide. Just look at the skewed priorities - the amount of work and the cutting of the force - it is not a good story. Indeed they are shackled by political correctness. The leadership love a good moral panic and popular publicity - big cases - lots of attention and tipping off etc etc

If Max Clifford was employed to represent Max Clifford in this particular case I'd expect a lot more pep and vigour in pleading his innocence.Seems like his hearts not fully in this, demeanour and body language look all wrong to me.I hope I'm wrong, not for his sake but for that of his family.I notice he's holding a charity dinner at Pennyhill Park on Monday night.Bookings are currently closed....I'm guessing they've been inundated with requests for tickets from tabloid journalists.Oh the irony!
