I think I'm pretty liberal, and up to speed with how things are, and my brother  in law calls me "Peter Pan"!

However, a question for you "guys & galls" (courtesy of JS)!

What is the maximum age where it is appropriate for your daughter to be taken into the male changing rooms?

Guy yesterday brought his daughter, who was circa 8 years old, through the changing room, and subsequently through the men's showers to get to the pool area!

The thing is that there is a dedicated family changing room, at the entrance to the main area, and with access from the female side as well!

It was pretty busy yesterday and with a fair few guys, at any one time, in the buff and also her getting changed in view of others.

There was some reaction from a few people and some exchange of views.

Personally I am going to say that it was highly inappropriate, and will be posting a comments card this morning.

You do that, Aunty.

Adults with children should be using family changing rooms.

Thanks Makybe_Diva,

Just back from said gym and have posted my view.

The thing is that there is this fantastic facility available, and it hardly ever used!

I am expecting, and hoping, that they will post a notice on the reception desk, and I might get lucky and get a free smoothy....Happy

I agree with you. I would say that is not just inappropriate but rather poor parenting.

Shocked

maybe he did not want to leave her on her own?

the girl may have been used to seeing her parents naked

but even soConfusedConfused

also if I was a bloke in the changing room I would not expect to see females there

even if they were only little

Had this happen at a leisure centre I sometimes use,I went mental at the parent simply no need for it and I find it slighlty sinister that people do this sort of thing.

I don't think it's right either.
But these councils seem a law unto themselves.
I was told at the local baths that it was okay if the girl was under a certain age.

I said well you might think it's okay if you think that all men are angels, and little girls should be mixing with strange naked men

Straightforward...there is a family changing area available, they should use that.

Why should dirty men look at pictures of naked little girls on the internet and risk being locked up, when they can go down to their local baths and see them in the flesh?

It makes you wonder about the council workers who take these decisions.

As there's a family changing rooms he should probably use it, but don't really see the big issue to be honest.
It's not like he's leaving her there on her own and inviting a few paedos over, which is what you'd think from some of the reaction on here.
They're just getting changed and going swimming, I assume she's getting changed in a cubicle, she might see the odd naked man on her way through, it's not going to kill her and there's nothing sexual about it. My mum used to take me in the ladies when I was a kid, can't see what the problem is.

Personally I don't want a 6 year old child looking at my c0ck,clearly you have no problem with that.

There's only one family cubicle in the mens changing room at the baths where I go, and the men didn't take the kids in their anyway.
They changed in front of the other men and then took them into the shower with the men.

I certainly would not allow a little girl of mine to be paraded about in the nude and shower with a bunch of naked men.

I would agree with that Dr Crippen

..although not all men are latent paedos...so I think this is more thoughtless than anything else

some Parents like to bring children up with no shame of nakedness

but should should perhaps confine this to their own home imo

I assume she's getting changed in a cubicle,

No she isn't!

There are no cubicles in the men's changing room!

The women's has two for the modest.

I still come back to the fact that there is an excellent facility for families.

I was quite shocked to be honest.

We do have lots of little ones, probably 3-5 years old, at the weekend which may well be ok but again,
use the effing facilities that are provided!

Ok, I just pulled down this 'snippit' of club rules.......

DW Sports Fitness ... Juniors 6 years and older must change in the changing room appropriate to their gender.
