Apparently they are re-naming it sports person of the year, to give Murray a chance.

He has a decent personality actually at times, eg after the match interview this morning with Greg and Annabelle.

why did they not do that when nigel mansell, princess anne, zara phillips, ryan giggs or mark cavendish won then?

Lol....I've never fancied kettlebells....looks a bit dangerous.

I'd either, put my back out, or let go of it and smash a window Shocked

Don't be knocking Lord Anthony of McCoy! That is the reason I haven't been on the horse racing forum for over 5 years to avoid bloodshed!

"Don't be knocking Lord Anthony of McCoy!"

Shocked HRH, I'm his biggest fan! Judo will tell you.

Happiest day of my life when he won the National Grin

Wiggins has still achieved the most this year imo and a deserving winner

Can't ever remember a SPOTY as competitive as this though!

Apologies MD! I took your post as he was lacking in personality in addition to others listed.

I actually backed Don't Push it at bigger than 33 on here for the National early doors, and was all set to go in again - but then he ran like an absolute pig at Cheltenham and I'd pretty much given up hope!

yes indeed i can confirm that we are in the presence of ap mccoys biggest fan

does not even have a bet either, cried buckets when he won the national and don't even mention when he has a fall

not a fan myself, I lay him quite a lot

kettlebells are great for getting ripped

Agreed FFT - any other year Ennis would be a 10's on poke, but she won't even make the top 3.

Wiggins should win but a no bet for me as the liberal lefties hold sway at the BBC.

Agree rick. Can't see past Wiggins/Farah/Murray filling the 3 in whatever order. I was quite pleased to get over 40 on Laura Trott in the place market before Farah winning the 5000 and then Murray has completely blown it out the water!

That's ok HRH, it probably didn't come across very well.

I was just pointing out that you don't need to have an all singing all dancing personality to win SPOTTY.

AP is a top bloke.

Getting in the top 10 is competitive enough!

Wiggo
Murray
Mo
Jess
Weir

all nailed on

Ellie Simmonds should get in

Ben Ainslie should get in for his 4th consecutive Olympic Gold

In that event you have three places remaining for:

Sarah Storey (4 paralympic gold medals deserves a place)
Chris Hoy (two more golds)
Hannah Cockcroft (two paralympic golds)
Laura Trott (two golds)
Jason Kenny (two golds)
Katherine Grainger (finally achieved a gold after three near misses)
Nicola Adams (historical boxing win but no chance sadly)
Charlotte Dujardin (two golds, in dressage though...)

Top ten for me are:

Bradley Wiggins
Andy Murray
Mo Farah
Jessica Ennis
David Weir
Ellie Simmonds
Ben Ainslie
Sarah Storey
Katherine Grainger
Laura Trott

Very tough call though!

Rory finished 8th in a relatively poor year when he won the US Open

Golf has gone a bit unnoticed given the hype surrounding the Olympics, Wiggins TDF win and now Murray's US Open win (yes I know they were both victorious Olympians too)

Can't have him in the top 10 this time around tbh

Thank you Rick.

The betting bit's not quite true tho'.

I did bet for the first time, at Chelts, earlier this year and lost all my money Sad

Then just about broke even when dear old Neptune won it back for me Happy

Not sure when my next bet will be. I quite fancy a bet on Lisa Riley to win Strictly.

She'll get the large ladies vote and there are lots of large ladies.

Lots of men like something to grtab hold of too.

That's my theory anyway Crazy

Plus she'll outshine everyone with her personality

bloody keeps refreshing

there is a section called Specials sue, get in there and they will be looking for bets in the SCD  market

good chance to make some money and learn how to trade a market

and as you have a week between shows makes it easier

just investigated

Lisa Riley is a very unlikely winner Sue, but that is not the point. If you could get matched at 140 or higher there is a very good chance she might prove popular and survive a few weeks... that might make her price shorten a lot meaning you can trade away and make a profit on all the contestants no matter who wins

and that is trading

Thanks Rick...I haven't looked yet.

I'm being distracted by a very large pan au chocolat Blush

I bought it today in celebration of Andy's win...it's what he would have wanted.

Betting talk hurts my brain. I will look into it tho'.

I think this year they are going to have a diffent system.  Perhaps theyll have more than ten on the shortlist.  If it was ten i would go...

Wiggins, murray, farah, ennis, ainslie, hoy, weir, simmonds, mcilroy, Trott.

Maybe nicola adams for trott.  If hamilton wins drivers champs then he could oust trott.

Hamilton, McIlroy and Farah should be non runners. Hamilton is Swiss, McIlroy considers himself more Irish than British and Farah is a Somalian who lives in America.

Don't forget - they will want more than their fair share of female competitors this year after the trouble last year. Also, they will want athletes from programmes covered by the Beeb - i.e the Olympics.
By:
rob_dylan
When: 22 Sep 12 17:23
The only possible non olympians are mcilroy and hamilton, if he wins.
