I post the truth you mug

I worked on a pakistanis leaky roof about 38 years ago. It was a 6 bedroomed town house(3 floors) in Forest Gate. Everybody in the house worked at Fords in Dagenham, and every room had 4 single beds in it. The 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. shift left got out of the beds an left for work at 5-15 a.m.  The 10-6 night shift came home and got into the same beds at 6-45 a.m.  I have no idea where the 2-10 shift were, but you can bet there was one.

All paying £7 a week each just to sleep there, and that was 1974. Work out what that comes to at todays rates

Depends how close it is to the nearest supermarket or off licence.

This sort of thing ranks very highly for renters, along with good transport links.

Surprisingly renting a four bedroom house would not be to hard as very few are on the rental market. Most landlords and those who dabble mainly buy one or two bed flats, at best three bedroom semi' s. Often you might have an executive on a short term contract working in the area.

The rules have changed about this kind of tenancy and you might have to get a license to rent to different people as it might be classed as a HMO - a house in multiple occupation, for which there are loads of regulations.

That is if you do not rent the whole house to a family.

If it's near a University you could 9 months pretty quickly at those prices with students. Otherwise you've got the professional market , depends what area it's in. If in a **** hole in a bad area....the LHA shared room rate is about 240 per month up there I believe if you accept "DSS". Expect lots of grief and repairs though.

Assuming it meets every regulation maybe recommendation from an associate or friend (at work not socially) with thorough checks prior, and at least a month's rent as deposit; also try inserting an ad with the council - that usually brings results. Be prudence though if renting the whole house out to a family as the repercussions could be challenging if getting it wrong.

...or you could flog it and let a young family have a chance of owning their own home......nah never gonna happen when you can milk the suckers.
