I can see this being Chit Chat's finest moment Cool
After the Jubilee Concert's brilliant thread, the opening ceremony could top it

I predict at least 4 forumites banned and 1 arrest for anti-Olympic posts that get out of hand.

Not my bag really.

These things are generally, unmitigated boll0cks, with Barry Davies warbling a load of stuff that would get him an internship in 'Pseuds Corner' on the Beeb.

Still, if it gets a few non-committed's interestd in the Games and provides some further w@nk material for the self-styled Chit Chat 'Cultural and Good Taste' Stazi then rock the fk on!

Basically it's about the Sport now. Going to be at Dorney on Sunday and have just got a ticket for the Womens Eight Final next Thursday.

Almost certainly, especially if 'third Crusty from the left' in the Glastonbury Moshpit extravaganza fluffs his lines in the full glare of the worlds media during 'The Levellers' Vignette.

Ohhh, there I go - giving it away again!!

Clay - totally agree, was thinking exactly the same thing the other day.  Just imagine a thread to draw our the witticisms of forumites on a combination of pretentious creative types, celeb spotting and national stereotypes from 190 odd countries.

It needs to be a true legend of the forum. A real David Beckham type IMO.

rogerthebutler,

I can't have you throwing cold water on the opening ceremony.

For a man that has spent a long time on here championing the Olympics, this is no time for faux disdain. Just as Chit Chat is readying itself to emerge from a fog of denial and cynycism and properly embrace the Olympic spirit, this is no time for you to abandon ship.

I'm there dude, but Danny Boyle doing his best not to offend the sectional-interest miserablists does not make for ennervating viewing.

Now the Cycling tomorrow and even the fact there's alrady been World Records set in the Archery today, has me tumescent with anticipation - feeling which is only further heightened by the fact no spectators were allowed in to see the latter, thus winding up the miserabalists yet further.

You just KNOW that the culmination of tonights opening show is going to be the synchronised popping of chit-chatters heads in a David Cronenberg 'Scanners' style jamboree as they realise it's here, it's on, it's going to be brilliant and there's not a damn thing they can do about it!

Might do Zilzal

I'm having my tonsils out on Monday, so it's Dorney on Sunday morning then some decent chow for the last time for a month on Sunday afternoon, with the family.

A b1tch indeed since I won't be able to cheer like lunatic for the Women's Eight's final next Thursday!
