Most complicated movie ever...

I watched Memento whilst hung over on a Sunday morning. I couldn't make head nor tail of it.

Mulholland Drive certainly takes some beating. An excellent film.

And the time travel film, Primer, is one which I defy anyone to begin making any sense of until they've watched it a few times.

I watched 'No Country for Old Men' on sky plus last night and was a tad confused at the ending.

I assumed that Shegah got the money, I assumed that he had killed Llewelyn's wife, I assumed it was irrelevant as to who had smashed into his car or why, I assumed Shegah survives the crash but there must surely be enough evidence to convict him. I was a bit puzzled as to the meaning of the sheriff's dream at the end apart from maybe he wanted looking after now rather than looking after the public.

Are my assumptions right? Overall I thought it was a pretty good film but the accents were too tricky to understand and the ending was a bit sh1t.

Inception. Couldn't follow it but frankly didn't want to, as it bored me senseless after about half an hour. Trying too hard to be stylish and clever, and failed miserably. Matrix is Oscar-winning material compared to Inception.

Is Revolver the one when Guy Ritchie gets a big budget and makes a total pile of cack with Ray Liota? you work it out really early and think "surely the twist isnt gonna be so obvious" etc..his worst by miles.

Memento was complicated but i thought brilliant as are most of Nolans films,though not a film for football forumites.

is inception really that difficult to follow? certainly if you don't catch it from the start, but otherwise it's really not that difficult, you just have to pay a little of attention. not every film needs to include an extended and mostly redundant scene to spoon feed the viewer the premise.

i'll put up another vote for mulholland drive.

Inception and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are both a bit complicated, but not excessively so. Mulholland Drive on the other hand is plain barking mad. Or surreal. Good sex scenes though

The two biggest loads of rubbish that I've ever seen are Final Approach, pilot in a white room basically sums it up, and 8 and a half, which is the biggest load of cack I've ever seen, but critics would climb over their friends' dead bodies to praise for some inexplicable reason.

It's been a while since I saw Mulholland Drive but as far as I recall you're quite a way into the film before it dawns on you that you're not watching scenes in chronological order.

Once you realise that, it takes a bit of working out. Great film.

Haven't seen Jacobs Ladder for ages..love the 'dream on' scenes. Quality film.

Films, for whatever reason, usually boredom I reckon, I have never watched to the end.

2001- a space odyssey- tried again the other night, got about an hour and a half in and, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Blade Runner- got as far as an hour or so- see above.

The Big Lebowski- so many have told me how great this is-I must be missing something, or is it the kings new clothes?

i agree with lebowski. i must watch that again, but the characters in it, to me, were berks.

Fecking great movie.

I find strange that some think it's necessarely a bad thing for a film to be complicated. The fact you are not 100% sure of what's happening in the story is fully part of the pleasure brought by most of the films spoken about on here.

Complicated doesn't always equate to clever. That's the point about Inception imho. Donny Darko, Jacob's Ladder, 12 Monkeys, Vanilla Sky… complex but genuinely thought-provoking, well executed and miles superior.

Being John Malkovich and Adaptation, both by Spike Jonze, i liked it

12 monkeys and vanilla sky, another two.

Thought inception was ok to be honest, only problem imo was that they spent the whole film explaining what was happening with some really clunky exposition. I prefer the complicated ones that make you fill in the blanks for yourself a bit more.

Lost Highway

Inception really is good though, as was 12 Monkeys. Oh and Being John Malkovich and Adaptation - both good too.

Vanilla Sky got slammed, but really isn't all that bad. Donny Darko is a bit 'take it or leave it' though.

For me 12 Monkeys is the best of that lot. It was released in an era in which Science Fiction got no respect whatsoever.

Donny Darko, Vanilla Sky, 12 Monkeys, Jacob's Ladder… all incredibly poignant as well as involving as you watch them and try and work out what exactly is going on.
