Jurys Inn, by the Echo Arena is alright.

Bit pricier, but the Marriott is as central as you'll get, and the service is good.

Ibis/Campanile are the best quality for the least money you'll get.

Campanile next to the Casino at Albert Dock ...
take your breakfast outside on a patio table if the weather is good = its to die for ...
hotel handy for everywhere in city centre and your car is 100% secure behind 15 foot fence with a security guard  in a hut on the gate  ...

The hotel at the back of Lime Street station is The Lord Nelson.Stayed there a couple of years ago with a cracking deal of just under £60 for two nights.

Depends what you're expecting but if it's just somewhere to sleep, the room was ensuite, tidy and the bathroom immaculate.

The Maharajah (sp?) 50 yds down the side street wasn't bad either.

Depending on the numbers going you could price an apartment in the city centre.

The ones in Mount Pleasant & Lever Court are well situated.

base2stay was a very good central hotel which was cheap midweek but a bit pricier at the weekend. Also stopped at the premier inn on the lively albert dock, if you stop here at the weekend make sure you don't plan on an early night Silly
