Not sure why you'd expect people from ethnic minorities (particulary blacks and asians) to give two figs about the monarchy. Few of them are more than second or third generation, so it's clearly not so much a part of their cultural heritage than it is for indigenous Brits.

For what it's worth, I was in the City earlier, and as far as I could tell, there were huge numbers of Americans, Canadians and Europeans in the crowds.

If you're ever in Amsterdam on Queen's Day, you'll notice that loads of the crowd are tourists too.

If I said to anyone in the home counties that I worked in the City, they'd know exactly what I meant.

somali, iraqi, bangladeshi, you name it they had them - and then you see the crowds  - hardly a coloured face amongst them  ha ha!!! You draw what conclusion you like from it.

Let's say that figure is true.

So all things being statistically equal, if you look at the crowd you would expect 1 in 5 people to be a non white. That just isn't the case is it. Out of all the thousands of people on tv over the last few days there is hardly an ethnic amongst them. Very, very, noticeable by their absence, and no matter how hard the BBC try looking for them, they just aren't there!

To me, the vast majority of people who have settled in England have just not assimilated and never will. These last few days of celebration seem to back this up.

You can give people a british passport but you cannot change their cultural and ethnic allegiance.

does it surprise you considering what has been done to these people in the past in the name of the royals? Just have a look at windsor castle and see the amount of artefacts that have been stolen from the former empire.

oh and BTW I would say that 50% of the people there were foreigners. I can say that because I went down to the Thames on saturday and saw it with my own eyes. How many of you lot on this thread made it down to the Thames or The Mall or Hyde Park?

What conclusion do you draw from that, moisok? As far as I can see it demonstrates that grateful immigrants don't feel obliged to join in with the celebrations - and why should they?

You see the thing is, that is just not true.  It wasn't noticable in that the very vast maority of people just don't look at a crowd like that.  There are so many other things to think about before doing a head count of the colours of people in it.  I find it very peculiar way to think.
