My mother bought one in the mid 70s. By 1981, we'd still not managed to get the lid off, so threw it in the bin.

JOCI Club......early ones are worth a fortune, not for the contents alone, but for the Iconic
brand, for packaging collectors! One from the 70s realised over £10k! Bloody ridiculous I know! My advice would be to buy some now, and keep them for thirty years, as part of your pension portfolio (just avoid the temptation of eating them)! |

I remember years ago going to a girls house for dinner, we had been out 2 or 3 times and her parents wanted to meet me, she told me they had pushed the boat out and had splashed out, I nearly fainted when this pie was produced, followed by tinned fruit cocktail with carnation milk, they lived in Gravesend, made me feel posh

The steak and kidney puddings are good, too. Suet, kidney, brown "meat", and more suet ... mmm ... and a damn sight easier to remove from the tin when heated.
