Hard to say not knowing your talents, but probably buy some property and be a slum lord.

buy to let small flat/bedsit, buy for 60k, put 15k down, 5k aside for fees and basic renovations, rent out for £375/month.  45k mortgage over 10 years about 425/month perhaps of which about 300 is paying off debt.  say you sub the mortgage for another 75 then you're still £175 up every month, that's equivalent to 2100/year or 10.5% on your money.  not relying on any hp increase.  Also that 300 figure will increase every month until it is 425 after 120 months, and the rent may go up with inflation.  And I personally don't believe house prices will decrease anymore.  it is what i'd do if I had 20 grand.

Buy some bonds and you could get £400 a year in income from it.  Retire to India, there's a billion or so people who still live on less.

I posted this on financials but have had no response so I would like the minds of chit-chat to look at it and give me your opinions.

i would say you would need 300k in order to make a modest living - unless you have a good idea or a skill and  go s/e ,can't think how you'd do it without grafting

300k would buy 5 very cheap flats and houses to rent

Joe the guy has 100% feedback, hardly likely to be plated copper

Oh ok i see, anothersecond. There was a woman on this forum some days ago who said she started in real estate in buying a slum for few money, renovated it while living inside, sold it much more expensive, bought another slum etc and is now owner of several properties

Burton, the guys been selling £20 dolls and all the sudden happy to sell as many gold bars as possible at half price to buyers with feedback for low value items Wink

Who knows maybe you could be as lucky as one of his buyers who got £60K spot price for £18K Excited.

It's 20 grand or £20,000

£20 grand makes no sense.
