The Sweeney
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
Brideshead Revisited

Hmm. Weren't three of those on ITV? Two made by Thames before its demise at the hands of a vindictive Mrs Thatcher after Death On The Rock.

That is something else we had in the 70s: investigative documentary series.

Alias Smith And Jones with Ben Murphy and Pete Duel is a very good shout Capt F. The ultimate must watch series from that era though for me has to be Roots.
Report Paddy Hair March 25, 2012 2:59 AM BST
Ah Roots , ****a Kinte and Chicken George. I also enjoyed another Mini Series about the Holocaust (with Meryl Streep i thnk)can't remember its name but late 70's early 80's. As a history buff i didn't know much about this period as i wasn't taught it in school, i found it fascinating if a horrific.
I also was forced to watch ( my Father loved them) The Waltons and Dallas ( before Dallas became big time) had the 8:10 slot on BBC 2 , with the hope of running into Not The Nine O' Clock News. Then he would realise and switch over to BBC 1 for the Nine O'Clock News.

MB's POtty Time - classic Grin

might be a bit later than the 70s but who remembers a mini series about a lad who finds out his mum was a gorilla? Charles Dance was in it iirc. Very much ahead of its time and deserves to be remade imo.

Laugh No I haven't Jayco, Brian Jacks 'king of the dips' was not my favourite Superstar, it was a great series though.

I knew Andy Ripley, he played for my local team Rosslyn Park and England of course, my rugby coach at the time was also there, I played cricket with him as well. He was a true Corinthian and won U.K. and International Superstars, he was a bit of a hero of mine if truth be told. A great man he was.
