I picked some up last year (only because 'Mozzas' had them on offer).

I wouldn't go as far, as the opening comment, though in fairness I never tasted that!

The thing is that anyone with any experience, and store cupboard ingredients, could cobble
something together at least as good.

But it's all about convenience sometimes, so I wouldn't condemn them any more than some
more familiar sauce brands.

Having said that I only have the 'Ketchup' and 'Jerk BBQ Sauce'!

What else is in the range anyone?

Roots was sued for more than £600,000 by Tony Bailey and his financial adviser Sylvester Williams. Roots gave evidence to the High Court and admitted that marketing 'his grandmother's secret recipe' used on his products was untrue, although Levi's grandmother did inspire him to cook the sauce.[9]
On 25 November 2011, the High Court completely rejected the claims made by Mr Bailey and Mr Williams that they had any role in developing the recipe for Reggae Reggae sauce, or that they should be given any share of the Reggae Reggae business built up by Levi Roots. Judge Mark Pelling QC, who was sitting as the deputy high court judge, told the court: "This was a dishonest claim, dishonestly advanced" [10], however he questioned the credibility of the evidence given by all three, saying that Roots "regards truth as an optional extra".

It's the root of the Denim plant.

tears ran down his face, apparently.

WE've cooked from his books, good stuff actually, though you can probably pick up better from any old stuff.

Anyway, he wears the right gear and looks great, so who cares?

Dragon's Den entrepreneur Levi Roots is being sued for more than £300,000 by a pal who claims he is the real inventor of the Reggae Reggae sauce, a court heard today.

Oh ffs. Why get on the guys case? Like any of the **** you get in the supermarket is actually what it says on the tin. 'Healthy' brunchbars with pictures of pretty laydees riding bikes that give you 20% of your daily fat allowance.

Anyway, banana

Good luck to the man, he's done well in a super competitive market.
However his biggest achievements were as a singer with the UK's greatest
reggae soundsystem Sir Coxsone Outernational

A journalist friend of mine wrote a feature on Levi Roots.

His editor didn't include it in the paper - he didn't mention his sources

The sauces are awful as cantp1ckawinner very politely implies! - far too sweet, possibly too much molasses, aftertaste bad and it makes your kitchen smell.

But the fizzy drink is amazing - superior to Lucozade, Cola, Oasis etc
They just need to sell it in the correct bottle size which is the one that fits on bicycle cages and a good % of the summer cycling market is there for the taking
Report danniellasmincepies April 16, 2014 8:13 AM BST

It's all a matter of personal taste but best be wary of over-hyped products like this.
I prefer Aunt May's Bajan pepper sauce and Encona hot pepper sauce. Use sparingly as both are pretty hot.
