Anything acid WILL AFFECT your teeth!
You should brush your teeth thoroughly about 30 mins after the reflux event.

I hope this posting is of assistance.

Control Acid Reflux To Help Prevent Esophageal Cancer

ScienceDaily (July 8, 2007) — For most of his adult life, 49-year-old Jim Bonell suffered from acid reflux, but he never considered the condition dangerous. That is, until he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

What Bonell didn’t know was that his chronic acid reflux left him with a condition called Barrett’s esophagus, which puts people at high risk for esophageal cancer. Barrett’s is a condition in hich the cells lining the lower esophagus change because of repeated exposure to stomach acid. Normally, the tissue lining the esophagus is similar to the lining in your mouth (squamous mucosa), but with Barrett’s, the body replaces the normal esophageal lining with one similar to that found in the intestines.

“There were no symptoms that I had esophageal cancer,” says Bonell. “Prior to being diagnosed, my acid reflux was really bad and getting worse. I was a Tums-eater. I’d eat a whole bunch of them.”

Esophageal cancer rates are on the rise, and the increase may be due to an increase in obesity, says Mark B. Orringer, M.D. professor and head of thoracic surgery at the University of Michigan Health System. Obesity

Please, please address the cause of your acid reflux, not just taking pills to mask the symptoms - the damage to your body has already been done by then.  The latest casualty of esophageal cancer is christopher hitchen - a noted alcoholic.

Guys ,there are many natural ways of treating acid-reflux .
Please look at the Hay Diet on food combining  which will eliminate it completely and improve your digestion system .

The article below of apples will also help symptoms .

Acid-Reflux Cure Using Apples

When it comes to ailments, even the most-common health ailments, many people are skeptics regarding home and folk remedies. With the rising cost of health care in the United States, common health problems, such as GERD (also referred to as acid-reflux disease), many people are beginning to put more stock into alternative forms of treatment.

Why Try Apples
There are a lot of over-the-counter and prescription options available for treatment of acid reflux, but apples are easy to find, incredibly inexpensive, and for some individuals---an easy fix. Acid reflux generally produces a burning sensation in the individual's upper abdomen, chest and/or throat areas. At one time, this condition was called acid indigestion. Apples work because they help neutralize the stomach acids, which in turn, help strengthen the LES valve.

How it Works
Curing acid reflux with apples is simple. Just eat one-to-two apples a day. Try eating apple slices before going to bed and in-between meals. That being said, the old-time saying, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away," is starting to sound more valid for many individuals experiencing acid reflux. You can also try adding apple slices or pieces to unflavored yogurt. Yogurt also naturally fights acid reflux. Eating this mixture once or twice a day should produce results in just a few days. Many individuals find that eating the mixture with dinner is particularly beneficial.

Other Information to Keep in Mind
According to Dr. Brian Fennerty, who is a gastroenterologist, stick with organic apples, as they tend to be more easily digested. Apple cider vinegar can also be extremely helpful when it comes to fighting acid reflux. It's sort of like fighting a hangover with "hair of the dog." In other words, using acid to fight acid. Some individuals find that drinking two teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar three times a day is very helpful with acid reflux. Other tips to remember include watching and maintaining a healthy weight and eating smaller meals. Make sure your final meal is at least three or more hours before bed. Avoid lying down after a meal or eating. Raising the head of your bed may also be beneficial if you experience acid reflux during sleep. This can be accomplished by placing wooden or cement blocks under the feet of the head of your bed. You can also raise the head of your bed by inserting a foam wedge between the mattress and the box spring in order to elevate your body during sleep from the waist up.

I've had Barrett’s esophagus, for 30 years, controlled by omeprazole, 20mg per day. no bone thinning probs. Have had numerous scans to prove that. A glass of lemon juice (real lemon) in the morning is also a great help, in helping to neutralise stomach acid as it becomes alkali after digestion.......http://www.angelfire.com/az/sthurston/acid_alkaline_foods_list.html

ive been on a tablet a day for last 8/10 years, omoprozole , couldnt do without them, but for last  few months ive been dieting and eating much better, didnt happen straight away  , but i havent needed to take the tablets for a full week now, i attribute that to drinking less red wine and cutting down on bread, i also eat a banana now every morning without pain( bananas used to be to be one of the worst for the acidity)

I read an interesting article once about how acid reflux could be caused by too little acid in the stomach rather than too much.  The idea being that not enough acid means not enough bacteria in the stomach are being killed.  Live bacteria produce gases which, when built up in the stomach, will push open the oesophageal sphincter, allowing acid to enter the oesophagus.  Taking medication to reduce stomach acid will of course help too but reducing acid levels further obviously means more bacteria that would normally be dealt with by the stomach are allowed to pass further along the digestive system.
