A cashier in Korals took a fancy to me about 25 years ago, took her out a few times & always went back to her mums house, at the end of the evening she always asked if I could drop her round a friends house on my way home, she said she stayed there a couple of nights a week, found out later I was dropping her back at her place where she lived with her boyfriend Shocked

Have to admit the the most productive period for me was while managing shops for Billy Hills in the City of London 78-85, there were several conquests and many offers which I avoided as I knew they had husbands/boyfriendS (still regret one in particular as I was obsessed with her at the time). Not sure what it's like today but the camaraderie between large areas (City & East London) really great and social gatherings, (piss-ups) were on a weekly basis.

I think that is probably the secret, ET, for people to experience the other sex a lot before they settle down.  Then you know that you have got the right one.  So many young people get married, cohabit, before they are really ready and especially men they end up feeling deprived, lol.

Report Eeternaloptimist April 28, 2016 2:39 AM BST
I'd say partly that annie and partly the throw away society we've created. It helps when you are compatible but I fear too often people are sold on the notion of perfection when it's that ability to compromise and accept the other person's faults because you're building something with deep and lasting foundations which counts when you hit the occasional inevitable choppy waters.
Report Eeternaloptimist April 28, 2016 2:42 AM BST
Robert Mitchum annie. He had an amazing life. Left home at about 14 during the depression riding the railroad as a hobo and fought as a professional boxer before hitting the big time in Hollywood.

Goodnight, everyone Happy
Report Eeternaloptimist April 28, 2016 3:08 AM BST
Well goodnight annie.

I'll leave you with a brief anecdote which may be less appealing to a woman than a man but I read a book about the stunt men of that post war period and they were generally disparaging about all the so called tough guy actors of the time. The consensus was that only three were worth the time of day with these being Robert Ryan, Jack Palance and Mitch who was renowned as the toughest. He was a drinker and carouser which was what got him in to trouble rather than being a trouble causer per se most of the time.

Anyway Palance had a bit of a bee in his bonnet about this and so they were filming a scene in a movie which called for him to sock Mitch. Instead of throwing a fake punch he hit Mitchum with a haymaker on the jaw. Mitch's response was a short jab into Palance's gut who immediately collapsed over Mitch's shoulder and was promptly sick down his back.

End of debate.

Not at all clarkson.

Creating the illusion of depth while smiling lasciviously and licking my eyebrows never did me any harm when I was on the hunt.

I don't know if it would still work today but something I used to do which worked quite a lot was when I was in the vicinity of a young lady I liked I'd say something nice but not too over the top. Compliment her on her perfume, ask what it is, say it real suits you, etc etc. Then instead of wearing my welcome out I'd politely excuse myself and walk away. It was surprising the number of times this would intrigue them because it was the opposite of how men usually behave in those circumstances.

I found little intrigues an attractive woman more than a man who seems interested and attentive and who then makes his excuses and socialises elsewhere but just close enough to be noticed enjoying themselves.

As I said though things could be so very different these days.

I did have an advantage clarky in that I entered nursing as a mere callow boy but those gals sure knocked that out of me in a couple of years.

Being around women so much teaches you how most women think and interact but as I say I always made allowances for their downright craziness on occasion.

annie makes a very good point. The juicier the fish, the more times she's seen the same old bait dropped in the water. Make her feel she's just perhaps special enough to make it in to your bed. If she's lucky.

And nine times out of ten looks are irrelevant. You'll struggle if you look like Quasimodo but women generally aren't as shallow as men and if you can put them at their ease, make them laugh, have a slight air of intrigue and mystique about you the only sound you'll hear is their knickers hitting the floor as they go from 0-60 in the direction of your face. Wink

Apologies for the blokey banter annie.

What do you do, ET?  You talk about nursing?

Like ET said, women think more about man's personality than his looks.  I have fancied so many men that were not good looking but they were MEN and that is dead sexy.

Try to get into jobs and situations where you meet the lots of  women on a regular basis so that they can see past your looks.  You have an advantage over good looking men because they are usually shallow and boring and not men.

Try to have a nice body even if your looks aren't great.  I fell for a bloke in a pub that wasn't good looking but had a beautiful body and he was in ripped jeans and an armless t shirt, showing off his muscled arms.  And they were genuine muscles through working as a builder, but he was also in a band, which didn't hurt either, although only for fun.  We were together for seven years.  He made me laugh, another great asset for men.

I trained as a nurse when I left school annie and when I qualified I worked in intensive care but I was something of a restless soul as a young man and left to study law and then take my Barristers exams. I lectured for a while and I've done some other things but I had a car accident about 16 years ago with my wife and as happens sometimes with these things I came out without a scratch and she was badly hurt and has chronic disabilities. So we moved to the far north of Scotland, I look after my wife, I've bought a croft and now work part time as a fireman as well as one or two other things.

I must confess though I am a square peg in a round hole in the fire service and am constantly the source of great amusement to my colleagues.

Sorry about the delay annie. Because we're a rural service we do a lot of additional jobs and most of the lads are in very practically orientated work whereas my specialities are my background in nursing but also my theoretical knowledge.
