Now don't be offended if you think this is a bit sick. Simply don't get involved.

Listed below are a number of 'celebrities' and their odds of ceasing breathing during 2011. You have a 'virtual' bank of £1000 and you can place singles, doubles, yankees etc in order to make as much virtual profit as you desire. Make as many, or few, wagers as you wish. Winner will obviously be announced on 1 January 2012.  Good luck. My own entry will be posted shortly.

Any dead certs in the list?

Clive Dunn making his regular appearance in the field, along with Ronnie Biggs who is has entered yet again.  Both could be placed in next years event, but at the odds would be small return on investment.

Gore Vidal (writer) 3/1
Herbert Lom (actor) 3/1
Peter O'Sullevan (commentator) 4/1
Fidel Castro (politician) 3/1
Ronnie Biggs (thief) 6/4 (NAP)
Eli Wallach (actor) 9/4

Pays around a million! (?)

Mandela at 11/4 he's about 112 isn't he?  That's got to be a good bet

1/2, Zsa Zsa Gabor, wasn't she released from hospital a couple of months ago so she could home to die, even at short prices she's worth a punt.

Paul Gascoigne, I know he is speculative but at 12/1, he's just too big to leave out

Peter O'Sullivan is 93 years old in March, 4/1 looks generous to me.

I WEOULD LIKE TO ADD ONE LAY TO MY BETS
The Queen Elizabeth 11, this cosseted old bird will be around for years.  When you live on the best food and drink, when the country employs people to make your food and do every other bodily function for you, its my belief that your hardly going to wear yourself out are you?  In 2016 she will surpass Victoria's record of 64 years on the throne I'd bet1 my last dollar she makes that.  At 6/1 for her to snuff it she'd have to be a lay in my book.

OK acey, duly noted. And yours, Poppydog. 51 runners so far.

Couldn't put Danny Baker in there (although I didn't actually think of him anyway). The man has provided the antidote to the tired format of the football phone-in for years, and despite him being a Millwall fan I wish him nothing but good fortune.

Should the winning entrant himself actually croak (how would we know?) then the Peter Finch rule applies.

Bobby Farrell, front man of the 1970s disco group Boney M, has died at the age of 61, his agent has announced.

The singer was found dead in a hotel room in St Petersburg, Russia, where he had been performing, John Seine said.

Farrell, he continued, had complained of breathing problems before and after a show on Wednesday. The cause of his death has yet to be established.

Farrell, the only male member of the popular four-piece, had been due to fly to Rome for a TV show on Friday.

Born Alfonso Farrell in Aruba, the singer left his home on the Caribbean island at 15 to work as a sailor.

He then travelled to Norway and Germany to pursue a career as a DJ.

In 1974 he was chosen to front Boney M, which was put together by German singer and songwriter Frank Farian.
