Tragic.
Hate seeing twats driving and using their mobiles. A rocket propelled grenade through the rear window would be a good deterrent.

I hate rumormongers too.  Let's wait for the facts first in this tragic case.

Police report that the Pavement was icy but the road was clear, hinting that the
girls may have been walking on the road?! the third person knocked down should hopefully be able to clarify this one way or the other.

string him up - ice or no ice
Report sparkmaster. December 18, 2010 12:34 AM GMT
I walk on the road quite a lot, bit of a shame they can't be arsed to grit the pavements much round here. Must be dangerous.

Very sorry to hear this.

I had the unfortunate experience of witnessing a hit and run a few years ago in which a drugged up guy and his mate out on a joyride literally drove into a Mum and her daughter and pinned them against a wall. Mum lived minus two legs and the little girl died.

What i couldn't understand was how the guy could go on the run for 3 weeks after before being caught. How can anyone live with that in their head?

I agree with you Sparkmaster....they are very happy to make sure the roads are OK in my town, but can't be fvcked with the pavements!...........I walk through a path from work that veers a very steep downhill slide, but no the council don't bother to grit it at all
Report boxingthefox December 18, 2010 1:48 AM GMT
punterfleecer..........you agreeing with sparky is nothing new. do you live in Glasgow, do you know this particular stretch of road.........no you fcking don't ..........now your very, very steep path on your way home compares to this tragedy in what way exactly?????
Report Aussi_is_back December 18, 2010 1:49 AM GMT
I believe the reason that councils won't grit pavements is that if they re-freeze then if someone slips on them then they can sue the council.

By leaving them icy, then it is the person's own responsibility, if the council give you the idea they have been gritted and you slip, you can sue.

That's another incident from near Glasgow city centre in 2010.  I remember that at the time.  Dreadful.  I think the guy's doing time just now.

This incident's in Castlemilk - a housing scheme deep down Glasgow Southside.
