When I was made redundant 7 or so years ago, apathy did set in. I applied for two jobs when I was made redundant, one in the science field I have always worked in and the other as a handicapper! 
I was too late applying for the science job and got no reply from the bha/bhb 
I was made redundant in the January, was paid gardening leave until the May and didn't go back to work until the October. I loved the time off and got to see the bulk on an entire flat season. I only returned to work as the company that I previously applied for a position at contacted me, as another position had become available.
