Brown comes across as more honest than Cameron. That might be because he has some policies he truly believes in, he had to get his education by passing scholarship exams and he isn't a former druggie.

Brown is a sociopath. He looks scarily believable when he is telling bare faced lies.

In 2001 Brown abolished betting tax.  Regardless of what else he did in his life I will always be grateful to him for that one act.

Taught me a lot about PC politics when he called that woman a bigot, his subsequent unconvincing grovelling remains fresh in my memory. Horrible the lot of em.

Brown decided that he needed to encourage long term investment rather than speculation.  So he invented CGT taper relief, so less tax, the longer you held it up to 10 years.

After 10 years, he scrapped the relief completely.

Canute was an old spelling used when I was at school. The modern spelling is closer to the old Norse Knutr. (I wonder of that will pass the auto-censor)

Oh and please don't think I was trying to infer that Brown was the biggest Canute to be PM in living memory. No, no, no, that was Tony Blair.
