Tunisia is without doubt the worst place I`ve ever been to in my entire life. It`s an absolute pig sty. If I was offered a grand a week to live there I`d tell them to shove it. The very memory of that cesspit makes me shudder.

I usually went march/early april and the weathers a bit hit and miss then if thats what you're after. Didnt choose to go cos it was work, but found it a bit more tolerable than some of your other correspondents.

Carthage ( nr Tunis) is ok. Rest is sh1te. They prefer the French guests and treat the Brits badly in restaurants etc. Go to Egypt for a tad more money and a world of difference service and food wise.

Spot on. I returned with a notifiable disease (Campylobacter). I had to get an injection from the quack`s on my return to stop me continually sh1tting myself. (23 dumps in one day is excessive by anyone`s standards) Then an area health inspector turns up & advises me he is confining me to my own house for 2 weeks!
The place is pure hell on earth.

Never been to Tunisia but i was in Cairo last year.
From what i have heard its pretty similar to Tunisia in terms of attitudes and customs. I hated it there, the most dishonest people i have ever met, you get hassled everywhere. Its even much worse than India.
Not all of the middle east is like that though.Jordan, Lebanon and Iran are all extremely friendly. In fact the nicest people i ever met were Syrians (this was in 2009 pre civil war).
Surprisingly, Syria used to be very very safe place a mere 5 or 6 years ago.

It was an incredible place Dancing.Aleppo too, which is now completly destroyed. Used to be a secular, fairly liberal society.Assad was in absolute control and did not tolerate any jihadist types.
His potrait used to be everywhere.Banks, shops, the central square etc. He is an **** for sure, but, at least back then people seemed to live a pretty normal life, provided they didnt critise the government or get involved in extremism.

although saddam and gadaffi were tyrants it does appear that both countries were more stable and the people happier than they are now. if only we could turn back the clock.
