Kudos for the forumite who mentioned the book group it was excellent.

Lazarus and Dingwall- Starred the two men from the carling black label ads it was a kind of cop spoof.

Joking Apart- Story about a guy who was divorced and was doing a stand up routine inbetween scenes like Seinfeld, I think it was written by the guy who did Press Gang.

Sledge Hammer was a joy.

For those who never discovered him, he was basically a spoof on the 'Dirty Harry' type of cop, in love with his gun. To say that Sledge was 'tough on crime' was a bit of an understatement. He believed that the death penalty was too lenient, as it still allowed the possibility of reincarnation.

Yep it was brilliant, got everyone at school watching it! shown at 2am in Yorkshire region, but 10.30pm in Tyne Tees, London etc so many people remember it.

The makers (who went onto make The Simpsons) wanted no laugh track for the dvd release, and I had all the episodes recorded off uk tv with no laugh track, ended up sending my tapes to Hollywood and got a thank you credit on the dvd Excited

Watching the footy at the weekend, the commentator's mention of Colin Bell had me remembering a programme from the late 60's called The Dustbinmen. Brian Pringle and Trevor Bannister were in it and I remember characters called Heavy Breathing and Cheese & Egg.

Someone was a massive Man City fan and his proudest possession was a pair of old boot laces that he was convinced were Colin Bell's but probably weren't. I remember it being hilarious but it would no doubt seem pretty mediocre if viewed now.

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, and it's certainly not a show that no-one will remember, but I thought Operation Good Guys was a bit of a one-off, and probably a cult favourite. The episode involving the Christmas extravaganza and the chief insisting that all important case work be dropped in order to focus on the best costumes, dance routines etc to be employed in the event, was just pure madness and a joy to behold!
