What's Torquay like .. and is Plymouth the slum zone ?

Is there much night life etc or full of retired pensioners ?

Cheers :)

Yep, live in Kingsbridge, about 20 miles from Plymouth and the same from Torquay...

I,m too old to go clubbing these days ;-) so only go to Plymouth for shopping sometimes, city centre is a bit depressing, think it got bombed heavily in WW2, so a lot of ugly modern buildings.

I was amazed at how built up Torquay was compared to how i remembered it from going there on holidays years before. Lively nightlife from what i have heard.

Know the area well.

Plymouth is better than Torquay.

I would live in Totnes, Ashburton or Buckfastleigh.

Oh you moved from Brum :^0 Cheers mate .. think i'll be next ..

I thought kingsbridge was more Torquay .. had a mate that lived in Torquay but i only visited in winter so couldn't really judge it .. seems a nice place (bit hilly) but seems a lot of retirement homes etc

I could handle quite nightlife that'd prob be cool now .. just wondered how you find the people area/ change in general ?

:)

South Hams is the place to be......

before i moved i was told that Totnes had the highest level of youth crime in Devon, though that is probably a trivial amount compared to a big city.

Mc. Kingsbridge is quite isolated in a way, but i like that... no wetherspoons, mcdonalds, KFC etc

Nearest beach to me is 10 mins drive, but there is a dozen or more within 30 mins drive.
Great community spirit, everyone looks out for each other, very low crime rate, if someone gets done for drinking & driving its a headline in the local paper !!

ahh i see now yeah cheers savo .. i was thinking more Paignton .. Totnes area

I'd like to be near the beach though .. i really couldn't live in horse riding country lol ;)

and you say Plymouth is better than Torquay .. that is surprising .. tbh Plymouth looks a little rough

though like you say rough there doesn't really exist

I remember you saying you used to do the machines actually :)

The stuff i have ( occasionaly now.... ) is on draught from my local, i used to think it had a medicinal effect, now i am not so sure, the old locals who have it day in day out look pickled !

MC - i did the fruits from about 98 to 2005 ish, was lucky to have some good contacts then, from 2002 to 2004 i was pretty much full time as i had been made redundant from IT job..

Hardly bothered since i came down here, even if i had any current info, the travelling would be a nightmare.

Dartmouth is a lovely place, but because it is a haven for holiday/second home owners, it can be a bit of a ghost town out of season ( salcombe is the same but property is even more expensive )
Kingsbridge dosnt have many holiday homes, and is a proper community all year round.

yep that's the problem really .. it's full of holiday homes and put me off slightly !

but a nice little apartment would be nice by the beach .. i 'd take it from there really

I did them for around 10 years on & off mate .. i gave em up after vivids (v good) in around 2002/3 then came here (shock)!!

far too many kids were getting the info but didn't really have the brain / contacts etc .. :)
