Old analogue tellies were bette (NAP). Plasmas n LCDs are simply for enticing mugs into spending ridiculous amounts of cash on what's essentially the same thing as they were watching 25 years ago.
|
|
By:
I don't know what plasmas are like nowadays but they used to suffer from image burn. ie. Something like the Sky Sports logo burned in faintly to the screen.
I'd get an 1080p LCD. If you're getting a small LCD then 1080p doesn't really matter too much. Anything over 32" and especially over 40", I'd go for 1080p everytime. |

Possibly this:-
http://www.richersounds.com/product/lcd-tv/panasonic/txl37s10/pana-txl37s10 £530 at Richer Sounds but could be available cheaper. Won 'What Hi Fi' Best 37" TV award in 2009. Gets excellent reviews at most places. |

is there a big difference between 50hz and 100hz no expert, but think this is on-screen image which is refreshed 50 times per second, so for fast moving action sports events if you don't want any motion blur 100hz doubles the screen refresh rate, it's really for sharper moving pictures but really not sure if you would actually notice that much difference anyway (?) |

You get what you pay for really.
I have looked in shops at the difference between 100hz and 200hz tv's and it is better but the price tag shoots up. If you have the budget the LED tv's are a similar price to the 200hz ones and seem to have much sharper pics. I agree with alex the run of the mill 50hz LCD are far inferior to the old tellys when it comes to watching horse racing or football. The HD makes it much better but involves running your sky bill up even further, and I resent the 48 quid a month as it is. |
