its ok...im sure hrh lizzie has better things to do, than send the heavies round to mine!......the local kebab shop hasnt reopened since being flooded out in november and the chippy is horrible, so i have taken up a spot of "trapping" and my first catch was a swan!....it took a good few hacks with my sand wedge before it stopped flapping around and squawking!...but i guess with practice i will learn to judge which club is best for the job!.

That swan on the cob crack was very good. I wish I could pen a riposte.

im not actually cooking a swan...because i dont know the best way to do it!....it looks a bit large and cumbersome to be "pan-frying"...and just roasting it seems a bit boring, anyone got any decent recipes?......it is quite tough to cut up into any sort of managable pieces, i have tried a bow knife which would cut through the sinew, and also a junior hacksaw which was okay until i struck bone, upon which the blade just snapped!....getting my 6" angle grinder out at it seems a bit o.t.t but if thats what i need to do then i shall!

i have to be honest....when i put my snare down, the last thing i expected to find in it was a swan!...and without wanting to sound ungrateful,i really didnt want a swan!...i know how to tackle cooking a goose or a rabbit or a pheasant...but swan casserole doesnt really do it for me!

Do a search on "Jeffrey Dahmer", it should give you some butchering tips
Report armchair jockey wilson!! • January 8, 2010 9:52 PM GMT
ive read lots about mr dahmer....but he wasnt prolific in butchering swans!.....its someone with skills in the field that i need!.....but dahmer would be a very useful point of reference if i ever caught a fagbot with my snare!

lake near me has hundreds of geese, and one swan. local twitcher reckons that the swan is from russia or something and lost its flock and just stayed with the geese it found. surely that isn't owned by the queen. Either way, all those geese and one swan must be worth a bit in a posh restaurant.
Report GrimReaper • January 8, 2010 10:18 PM GMT
It all comes down to the Law of Royal Perogative. The swanyou mention is effectively squatting in England, and therefore belongs to Her Majesty.

She also owns all the Eastern Europeans, I believe.

seem to remember doing some research on this a few months ago. A swan in usa for eating costs .... guess how much.

well i'll tell you. one thousand dollars ffs.

Don't let Border Patrol know, they'll want to deport it and the paperwork wil cost a fortune.
