Howdi - your spot on - 60s & 70s gave us the most innovative music production ever, there's good stuff either side of those 2 decades but generally speaking they were by far the best - Beatles - Presley - Pink Floyd - Motown - Stones, you could go on and on and on, superb hits every week on the radio, your lucky if you hear one decent song per month now.

:) There are very few I'm in awe of but as a big sports fan and footy fan the only ones I am are:

Elvis - Beatles
Maradona - Pele - Best

There likes don't come across very often.

I remember buying the '68 Concert on DVD for my mum ... and heard, for the first time, him singing "If I Can Dream" ... the type of song that would have been familiar to him as a child growing up in a poor environment, heavily imbued with Gospel ... it still brings a lump to my throat. (I was only 13 when he died, and while not an ardent fan, I do still love to hear his voice) ... :o)

Amazing talent.

here's an interesting Elvis fact:

between Summer 1969 and June 77

Elvis performed 1,128 concerts

And a good chunk of those were in single venues in Vegas - his first season in Vegas was 54 shows in 4 weeks.

Can't imagine the prima donna celebs now being such workhorses.

^ exactly. And what are the chances of 3 people like John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison
ever coming together again. No dis-respect to Ringo, but he was one lucky sod
in the right place at the right time. And what are the chances of a single performer like Elvis
ever coming along again.

I was working in betting office in Long Row,just off St Martins Lane in the West End..

It was one Saturday morning before the dogs.I went outside to have a fag and watch the girlies go by,when low and behold Paul McCartney comes strolling along.Stopped him and had a chat for a few minutes.
