What the hell is the grit going to do if its covered in 10 inches of snow? some people just seem to think that in this day and age mankind should be able to control the weather.

Isn't it more than just grit? Most is mixed with salt which raises the freezing point of ice so the snow melts and doesn't get a chance to form deep layers.

The stuff doesnt actually work aswell below -7c so if you put it down the night before it itself may freeze. Also a little bit of rain and it would all be washed away before the snow anyway. Its the winter and its a bad one you have to expect some snow and ice without blaming everybody else. These people who blame the councils for not spending ridiculous amounts on grit to put it on every road in case the snow falls arent exactly forking out and planning ahead themselves by buying a set of snow tyres and ice chains.

maybe not, but if every household gave me £1600 a year i would.

Would you be happy if they spent your £1600 on grit to lie on the road then the rain to wash it away down the drains before the snow actually fell?

most people who say they can't travel to work via car tell lies
I had to travel today in the office motor, had no trouble at all |
