Serious question chaps A few months ago a good friend died, and his funeral was humanist, the first time ive experienced such a thing. Ive always been a complete atheist and mocked those who believed in Gods as idiots, theres no proof of such a thing etc..., but the complete lack of 'God' talk etc... at the funeral made me uncomfortable, and I guess, as cheesy as it sounds 'I found God', and have believed there to be such a thing ever since. Also, ever since i've felt the need to belong to a religion, but ive f**k all idea which one! I dont believe in all that Jesus malarchy, and I also accept the existence of dinosaurs and believe in evolution, which rules a number of religions out. My belief lies largely in the idea that some greater power created the universe and all within it. So basically, other than the nuthouse, where do I 'belong'?!
Lack of God stuff at a funeral has to be a bonus - when your nearest and dearest die and some old fool is up there saying "..and she liked the smell of flowers" etc then singing a load of old crap in an empty church isnt particularly life-affirming

YorkUltra, my dad dies a few months back and I gotta say that the fact I believe I will see him again made / makes it somewhat bearable(am Catholic, but by no way devout or a zealot). I see where you are coming from on feeling uncomfortable on the lack of religion at the funeral.
a coincidance - he was a York City fan also!!

There are no gods of course, but obviously the funeral had a effect on you emotionally. My advice would be to let the dust settle for a while and then see how you feel - you may return to your normal self.
If after say a couple of weeks you still feel the same way, then try a few local church services out (shop around) until you feel comfortable. If non of them seem to fit, you could always try starting your own religion!

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able, and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
Before you decide- consider the following:Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able, and willing? Then whence cometh evil?Is he neither able nor willing? The
