Forget that.

The top treatment now is called wavefront I think. All in about £2k per eye.

£300 per eye is in a backstreet in Walsall with a blind bloke and a pair of pliers.

Mrs SRM had one of her eyes done a couple of years ago so that she could stop having to wear glasses for driving. She paid top dollar at Moorfields in London, partly to be on the safe side but also because not all places offer the same treatment and they are the best in the UK. I think it was a couple of grand.

She got one done instead of two because your eyes compensate for each other, which means that she's now long sighted in one eye and short sighted in the other. The end result is that she doesn't need glasses for long or short distances any more. In time her eyes will deteriorate (like everyone's) and she'll probably end up needing to wear them for reading, but the driving situation is cured permanantly. When she has to start wearing glassses for reading she'll probably get the other one done to improve the long distance vision even more.

Her view would be that it was a great thing to do but go to the absolute best place you can afford. The consequences of having someone f up one (or both) of your eyes doesn't bear thinking about.

Check out the videos on Utube.. the bit where they 'slice' the eye is interesting.

Yes sir. That is a nice cut - just £4.00 a pound.

Obviously you don't see what they're doing to your eye, but according to my wife it's the smell of burning flesh that's slightly unnerving.
