Just found out that at 4 o clock today my Grandad, broke down on a country road, and rang the AA who said they could be about 1 hour and a half which isnt great as it is, but then 3 hours later (he's waited) he rang them as not only had they not come but they hadnt even rang him back, to let him no.....they then said it would be shortly, and they never came

thankfully the police drove past about 30 minutes ago, and saw him and have helped him out and got him home, its -7 he shouldnt be sat in a freezin car for 5 hours, when a member of that useless company, sorry about the rant, its just angered me

my m8 phoned up the AA has his wife had broken down on a winters night on a road without lighting.

Spoke to the operater and asked for prompt response as he felt his wife was not safe, the operator who was female told him that if he felt she was going to be raped he should phone the police.

He kept all relevant times, names etc and he got a free meal and drinks plus a £50 voucher as a apology.

Very sad Gary; unfortunately AA; RAC; Green Flag; Direct Line will have had similar stories over the last few weeks; would recommend he rings Member relations line who will do an investigation into what happened and why it happened

For Gawd's sake what a moany old country this place is.

A third of the world don't know where their next meal will come from.Throw in their living conditions.Nature has a habit of harming the poorest of the poor.Earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, but don't let a drop of snow let us stop from doing some self pity.

One old gent waiting for the AA is not a crisis.

No probs Gary; problem is; with the volume of calls all breakdown companies will have had; people that normally do ringing out to members will be taking incoming calls instead. I saw on news that AA were getting an average of 1200 calls an hour; impossible to ring out to members when that volume of calls is coming in

It doesn't have to be like this
Hit them where it hurts in the pocket. I for one won't be renwewing my AA memership this year. Admitingly for other reasons, than their poor service with the recent weather

over the years i have used aa rac green flag etc a few times and have always been very impressed with their service ....obviously if they are 5 times busier than normal they may take longer to arrive - the only time they have been slow to arrive was when i had a flat battery in july when i was working in the middle of france and they rang up to ask if it was ok to come the following day .......three cheers for the fourth emergency service

When: 05 Jan 10 16:41
it would help the AA and the RAC if people had petrol in their tanks, antifreeze in their radiators, renewed their batteries once every 3 years , checked their oil once a week etc etc.

They are not their to help out addled fools who get the car out for a 1/2 mile trip to the shops when it has been sitting their for a week and no one thought to start the engine.

AA membership fee is not meant to be insurance against imbecility.

In a genuine emergency breakdown, their service is first rate. It's the idiots who clutter it up.
