Report Peter Ridsdale • January 3, 2010 11:46 PM GMT
That's your problem, to fussy. A jobs a job yet you discriminate against certain professions in your post.

JSA for the next 12 months imo!

Report armchair jockey wilson!! • January 3, 2010 11:53 PM GMT
the term "servicing" could mean all manner of things!.....i mean..prostitutes describe their activities as "servicing" clients!....i take it that you are not doing that with medical equipment?
Report armchair jockey wilson!! • January 3, 2010 11:54 PM GMT

is pretty straightforward stuff testing readings on various things putting stickers on them writing out certificates... boring. got a degree in 'applied biology' as well.

I get the impression this guy wants everything handed to him on a plate and paid a fortune for it.

you need education/certification and experience to be fussy I have found... never had a formal interveiw in my life.
Report ripper! • January 4, 2010 12:11 AM GMT
i aint desperate mallard-just spent the last 4 yrs bouncing from dead end job to dead end job- and am after something with some prospects-wt do you do for a living mate?
Report STUDYFORM • January 4, 2010 12:12 AM GMT
ripper, it isn't easy mate.
There are crap jobs, badly paid jobs, jobs no-one else would do, despite the pious **rs on here telling you it's a land of opportunity, and you shouldn't "scrounge" etc etc, (they can't see things from anyone else's perspective).
Too many big companies, and hardly any manufacturing base, no-one with any money to spend, all conspire to make work in any field a success just now. Add to this, the lack of vacancies, because no-one wants to leave a 1/2 decent job for fear of no future.

All that seems to be left are call-centre, awful agency rip-off jobs, and working for B&Q or Tesco.

Good luck in your quest.

please elaborate Nova Sicko

Better get the decent jobs fast as the current immigrants climb up the decent jobs ladder and new immigrants start at the ladder bottom.

Report armchair jockey wilson!! • January 4, 2010 12:18 AM GMT

Report Nova Sicko • January 4, 2010 12:25 AM GMT
Not sure I can.

Proffessions are hard to enter without a specific education background.

Quality employers for higher grade jobs require a pure education background.

Then if you don't have experience you can only start at the bottom.

For trades you need certification regardless of how skilled you actually are.

I don't any of the above on paper so i'll not get selected for interview.

The one job that you can get into is sales, requires nothing but the personal skills to communicate with customers and give them enough infomation(in the loosest sence) to sell. Commision only is what sorts the those that can and those that cannot between.

Report armchair jockey wilson!! • January 4, 2010 12:30 AM GMT
ive done 13000 miles in the last 4 weeks!.....its a way of life....i absolutely love it!.........cannot think of anything id rather do!.....i initially responded to an advert looking for a part time driver...3/4 hours per week....and am currently doing 60+ hours...and am on the verge of becoming a partner in the company!.......finding something that you enjoy is priceless!
Report Nova Sicko • January 4, 2010 12:33 AM GMT
Btw all jobs I had had in the past have never come from interveiw in the formal sense, who you know, what I can demostrate and talking my way into it is the way I have kept alive.

saying that I have hardly worked this last year, previous only about 2 in the last 5 years.

Currently I work a few hours for 3 days a week, if I worked any harder I would not benifit.

I would love to have a "normal" job and the I could not have to worry about income. Reality is I can't get it... not dues to me being usless, just the "system" is not interested.

Will be pushing hard though over the next month or so while the winter is here and i'm stuck in the uk
Report Dobbo • January 4, 2010 12:33 AM GMT
I've never been able to work out if I have been lucky, a good judge, smart....whatever.But I earn a good living now doing not a lot What I do know is that from day1 I was allergic to the "work/job" ethic. I just could not handle it and did all sorts of things from cleaning windows to delivering leaflets ..to whatever would make a bob or two. What I'm saying is that after a certain stage I never, ever considered employment and after years of skintdom It came right for me. It may have been inevitable that I would have found a niche or maybe good fortune.I just dont know but I have always advised my own kids to do something on their own rather than worry about a salary.
Report armchair jockey wilson!! • January 4, 2010 12:35 AM GMT
excellent advice dobbo.....working for other people is a sure way to never ever have anything!....if you are going to graft...then graft for yourself!
Report Galloping-Carrot • January 4, 2010 12:36 AM GMT
