the most useful forum on a betting site?

Without a doubt in my mind. There's nothing better than reading questions that need asking and relevant, expertly informed opinions.

The term "cut and paste" comes from the traditional practice in manuscript-editings whereby people would literally cut paragraphs from a page with scissors and physically paste them onto another page. This practice remained standard as late as the 1970s. Stationery stores formerly sold "editing scissors" with blades long enough to cut an 8-1/2"-wide page. The advent of photocopiers made the practice easier and more flexible.

The act of copying/transferring text from one part of a computer-based document to a different location within the same or different computer-based document was a part of the earliest on-line computer editors. As soon as computer data entry moved from punch-cards to online files (in the late 1960s) there were "commands" for accomplishing this operation. The earliest editors, since they were designed for "hard-copy" terminals, provided keyboard commands to delineate contiguous regions of text, remove such regions, or move them to some other location in the file. Since moving a region of text required first removing it from its initial location and then inserting it into its new location various schemes had to be invented to allow for this multi-step process to be specified by the user. These schemes involved putting the text into some temporary location (aka, "clipboard") for later retrieval/placement.

Aren't carpet fitters amazing?

I really think they are tremendous value for money.

Two strapping lads spiriting whole carpets up and down two flights of stairs as if they were weightless and all this for half the price a plumber would charge to ring the doorbell.

Intelligent stuff and all very relevant to my betting decisions.

You missed the best chit chat tipping thread, it was under the guise of a record from yesteryear thread, it had over 50,000 posts in about 4 years.

It got pulled fairly recently as some miserable bastids said it slowed the forum down

No you're right. There are very good social reasons too of course.

Thanks. Managed to get it sorted out in the end by myself, but worth asking chit chatters anyway.

Here's a couple more insightful gems:

ovalman - science was once used to justify religion, now it is used to discredit it

lets be honest - if scientists are willing to lie about global warming then they are willing to lie about anything and I would suggest most of what is considered accepted science will have radically altered in 50 years time

Global Warming, is it real?

Or is it just another thing designed to frighten us and keep us in our place?

Religion was originally invented to keep people in order, but that's broken down and intelligent people don't buy it, so our masters have had to invent other things.

Global Warming was just a scientific theory until 1985 and polititions only really started talking about it in 1988 co-incedentally around the time of the end of the Cold War, which they used to scare us with for the previous 40 or so years.

The winters are still as cold as I can remember when I was a kid, there were summers in the mid 1970's that were much hotter than the last few have been.

I haven't noticed any drastic changes in temperatures, I'm 50 years old, what global warming? ffs I'm sick of hearing about it.

I love learning from expert opinions.
