Where would this epic rank in your list of great films?

Top ten for me.

dunno isnt it a bit gay?
Report treble • January 1, 2010 7:47 PM GMT
No, thats 300

Gladiator great in my opinion. Oliver Reed and Richard Harris are in it. That should be enough for any film afficionado.

Ripping yarn
Report Dan Chipowski • January 1, 2010 7:50 PM GMT
Very enjoyable...8/10 for me.

A good film indeed,Russell Crow did look a bit gay,I think this was Richard Harris's last film, but would be in my top ten.
Report johnn • January 1, 2010 7:52 PM GMT
Hollywood inspired ending spoiled an otherwise excellent spectacle.
Report Shrew D • January 1, 2010 7:52 PM GMT
Class film.

It was definitely Oli Reeds last film as he died whilst filming.
Report billy hill • January 1, 2010 7:53 PM GMT
wasn't Harris in Harry Potter?

anyway, I was on hols in 2001 at a resort where all the bars showed pirated films most of the day, so watched this at least 2 or 3 times in the week
Report Prima Donna • January 1, 2010 7:54 PM GMT
Shrew, yes you are spot on I got that mixed up with RH
Report clarkson • January 1, 2010 7:55 PM GMT
300 is an awesome film
Gladiator is an excellent film spoiled only by the New Zealand thug Russell Crowe.
Report Brodie • January 1, 2010 8:00 PM GMT
Think the baddy ( Marcus Aurelius ) was a good bloke apparently
Hollywood taking no notice of the facts as usual.
Report Alex69 • January 1, 2010 8:07 PM GMT
Excellent film which I enjoyed, but wouldn't come anywhere near my top 10
Report Vubiant • January 1, 2010 8:10 PM GMT
Marcus Aurelius was a great philosopher ...who is still read today .
Report Pounf • January 1, 2010 8:16 PM GMT
A great philosopher...now reduced to the dude that wanted to $hag his sister

Report the finster • January 1, 2010 8:55 PM GMT
good film with some great action sequences, spoiled slightly by soppy ending . not top 10 but definitely top 100.
Report Gravitational Pull • January 1, 2010 9:06 PM GMT
I like it, also like the gimmic 'spaniard' refference to modern day wrestling.
Report tobermory • January 1, 2010 9:08 PM GMT
Marcus Aurelius is the good guy Brodie

Spartacus is better
Report RoyClaytonsTash • January 1, 2010 9:10 PM GMT
Not the same without Fash,Uli and wolfman
Report Slippy Blue • January 1, 2010 9:11 PM GMT
Good film wish I had seen it in the cinema first and not on dvd, Olllie Reed was excellent in it. I would score the film 7.5/10 which is quite a high score for me.
Report Brodie • January 1, 2010 9:15 PM GMT
Yeah ,got the wrong fella tober. His son Commodus was the baddy.
Facts....pah!
Report Easter 1916 • January 1, 2010 9:15 PM GMT
vastly overrated. 5/10.
Report WELSHIE1 • January 1, 2010 9:16 PM GMT
great film
Report duffy • January 1, 2010 9:21 PM GMT
good film i thought....not historically accurate though by far.
Report Big Charlie • January 1, 2010 9:35 PM GMT
I think Commodus was the only Emperor to have fought in the arena as a gladiator. Somebody can check Wikipaedia, I can't be bothered.

I enjoyed the film though.
Report duffy • January 1, 2010 9:38 PM GMT
commudus did pretend fighting apparently...and maximus never even existed.
Report Mr Eboue • January 1, 2010 9:40 PM GMT
I dont understand.

For a film to be good it has to be 100% historically accurate?
Report Brodie • January 1, 2010 9:48 PM GMT
Yes, that's why i loved the Life of Brian
Report clarkson • January 1, 2010 10:57 PM GMT

ok.someone is going to say...so here goes.
romans!what did they ever do for us? eh?
Report Big Charlie • January 1, 2010 11:28 PM GMT
No they won't
Report HRH The Lager Khan • January 2, 2010 12:15 AM GMT
Gladiator is good but Spartacus is a classic. I do like Russell Crowe as an actor though most of the time. Gerard Butler however in 300 delivers one of the most wooden performances ever.
