What is the best site? I normally use nationalrail.co.uk and thetrainline.co.uk. Trouble is it won't tell me where the train stops and what time. How can I work this out, i've never known how. For instance I want to get a train to carlisle, i just put in London to Carlisle. And it tells me when it leaves and when it arrives. But I want to know where it stops on the way because I think it might stop somewhere nearer to me. Closest is Biggleswade, but that would mean going down to london first. I think it might be milton keynes or something, but the point is how can I actually find out from the website?

it doesn't list stations between london and carlisle as far as i can see. MK was right, but only because I guessed rght.
Report canaryboy • December 31, 2009 8:24 AM GMT
why MK?

where do you actually want to go?
Report canaryboy • December 31, 2009 8:25 AM GMT

I want to go to carlisle from biggleswade. But that will send me down to london first So I wanted to find out where te train from london to carlisle stopped at that was closeish to me. I suspected it was MK, but for instance Bedford or Luton and others are preferrable to get on at even though they are a bit further than biggleswade, it is preferrable to going down to london and back.

just noticed natioalrail.com and nationalrail.co.uk are different. think i prefer the latter.
Report canaryboy • December 31, 2009 8:30 AM GMT
yeah usually is cos any train you get on that started there is bound to be doing loads of ****** stations

when you go from euston to the north you can avoid all those
Report positively4thsteet • December 31, 2009 8:34 AM GMT
a few extra stops is preferable to going to london with luggage and tubing/walkng/taxiing it from kings cross to euston.
Report canaryboy • December 31, 2009 8:37 AM GMT
lol it's only 1 tube stop

piece of ****

It is a 10 minute walk, wouldn't use a tube, it would be a pain with loads of luggage And i'd have to pay about 15quid to get from biggy to london. MK is much preferable if i can get a lift there. And the first train of the day doesn't seem to stop at other stations anyway.
