I just posted on the spur of the moment at the joy of Peter Moore being released, I forgot that 99.9% of posters on chit chat are men and do not feel joy and compassion to the degree that women do. It once used to upset me that men were so cold but I have come to accept that it is not the fault of the men as they were born that way. So many times in my life I have been in floods of tears and the men have not shed one. My mother dying and 9/11 come to mind.

i wouldn't say not feeling raw emotion about people you've never met makes you very cold
and not crying doesn't mean you don't feel emotion
men are famous for bottling it up remember
hence they have a much higher suicide rate

Your replies have illustrated perfectly the difference between men and women. A woman would cry over someone she has never met. I used to buy in to the theory that men bottled it up, but no more. That is just an excuse because they have no feelings to bottle up. The only time you see a man cry is when it concerns him, personally. As I said before I do not hold it against men because they are like this, they cannot help it. Perhaps if the men on chit chat were to understand this fundemental difference between men and women then they might not have so many disagreements with their partners.

annie. 30 Dec 16:03 Just seen that Peter Moore, who has been held hostage in iraq for two and a half years, has been released.
The partner of the man who murdered his own child and then committed suicide has died from her injuries.
erm even you :|

annie. 03 Jul 22:47 In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their family member lay gravely ill.
Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and sombre.
'I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news,' he said as he surveyed the worried faces.
'The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant.
It's an experimental procedure, very risky but it is the only hope.
Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the brain yourselves.'
The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great length of time, someone asked, 'Well, how much does a brain cost?'
The doctor quickly responded, '$5,000 for a male brain, and $200 for a female brain.'
The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked.
A man unable to control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask,
'Why is the male brain so much more?'
The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and explained to the entire group, 'It's just standard pricing procedure. We have to mark down the price of the female brains, because they've actually been used.'

I would say crying is more of a conditional thing.
I suspect that luvvie men in this country cry more than African or Chinese women.
I bet 400 years ago more luvvies men cryed more than women in this country
Women use to go and cheer at hangings (not saying that is a good thing)

The examples you showed of my using paragraphs were correct on my part. The first post should have been in paragraphs as I was trying to say how you could cry, both in sadness and joy. That is only if you are a woman though :p The second example was cut and pasted from the internet.

I fundamentally disagree with almost everything you have said here, particularly the bit in bold. It's a fairly sweeping statement.

i can understand annie's point though, I bottle it up when noel edmunds appears on tv, then, whenh hes disappeared from the tv screen, i usually let it all out.

Sorry to upset you, yellowbird. I was just trying to help you. You are one of the few posters that I actually read their threads, but to someone brought up on grammar, spelling and paragraphs ( not that I am an expert) your posts are annoying in both senses, not just in one ( annoying git, that is).

I always cry at the end of Cool Runnings, where they crash but valiantly carry their bob across the line.
I am neither black, Jamaican, or a bobsledder, so most of the themes of the movie don't apply to me. I'm not even a chubby Canadian with a murky past. Just so proud.

I am relieved to be a man. So many desperately sad and wonderfully happy things occur every single day, involving people I have never heard of and will never encounter, that I would hate to spend my entire life in floods of tears for no reason.

I loved Cool Runnings as well and no doubt I cried at just the same place in the film as you. It is nice to hear from a man who cries at films. Thank you for your reply to the post as well, although you disagreed with me you did it in a gentlemanly way - unfortunately this is not what usually happens.

I did not ignore you, yellowbird, I was playing poker - I am a beginner so it is difficult for me to play and reply at the same time. It is peculiar that I disagree with almost everything you write, not just some, but most. I thought Titanic was okay, watchable but nothing more. I loathed the 'romance' between them, they seemed mismatched to me. I do not find Di Caprio in the least fanciable - he is a boy not a man. I do not thing I cried at all in the film.
You are probably winding me up again, yellowbird. I cannot believe you cried when he died, if I did not than I cannot believe a man did.

Annie, men do cry at films. I remember my brother crying when Spock died, as did I, but then I cry at most sad moments in films. I also cried through most of Titanic.

Most nights I scream-wan(k my way through the valley of the shadow of death, crying and beating myself with a MASSIVE copy of the King James Bible.
It's okay though - I wear the plague mask so no f-ucker comes near.
Hope that helps put things in perspective
