Was about to happily fall asleep over this but the gf's Mum has just turned up in floods of tears. Suspect she may have shot someone in the face? Anyway, banished to the central nervous system of the MO household for the forseeable. Working my way through 1st series of Blackadder so will KBO through that for now I guess :| And if she's gone gone by the time Alan Partridge comes on there's going to be more than 1 shooting in the face tonight

The Turn of the Screw
A governess is sent to take care of two orphans living in a remote country house, where she is literally spooked by the presence of a pair of ghosts who seem to come and go as they please - and soon suspects the children know more about the spectres than they are letting on. Her anxiety builds when she learns that the previous governess, who was very close to the children, died with her lover in mysterious circumstances. Chilling one-off drama, based on Henry James' classic 1898 novella and updated to a Twenties post-World War One setting. Michelle Dockery, Sue Johnston, Mark Umbers, Josef Lindsay and Eva Sayer star

I have a wee one in the bedroom leopard (yes very funny pun intended) but A) it's farking freezing in the bedroom; and B) I need to appear sympathetic/on hand, and therefore spare room/study/portal to chit chat is closer if one of them moves from the sitting room, and I can leap to the kitchen with a look of studious worry and attention to their wellbeing

The gf came out for water or something but went back in before I could nip through and get the gossip :( Am currently watching Ivor Cutler on Youtube and am trying to stage my own death on facebook to see what interest it provokes.Alsi have resorted to eating a bag of proper, crack-your-own nuts as refreshment (see seperate fred). Wish I could deliver more. Am ever hopeful. How is the Screw evolving?

that was a real disapointment. I'm not just saying it, but James' Turn of the Screw is genuinely one of my favorite books of all time. It was masacred tonight. The character of Quint was completely different to the version in the book.

Such a shame. BBC usually do these things so well (Cranford for example)
