Suffering with a hangover and dragged out to the shops by the missus. Decided to go to KFC - haven't been there for years.

Ordered my meal and was asked to select a 'side'. The choices were:

Coleslaw
Gravy
Sweetcorn
Baked Beans

The strangest accompaniments I've ever heard of. I can just about understand the sweetcorn but have no idea how you'd have any of the other 3 with a chicken burger and *****

The corn is good, but I need a bath and change of clothes, and also a full valet if you try to eat it in the car.

gravy???

what flavour? beef! ?
Report Mc Moonbeam • December 29, 2009 1:46 PM GMT
Coleslaw *Nap*

The tub's actually full size !
Report madsimon • December 29, 2009 1:48 PM GMT
reminds me of I'm Alan Partridge when the Geordie gave Alan some suasage and beaked beans in a mug
Report Glossy • December 29, 2009 1:49 PM GMT
I daren't even ask about the gravy. I doubt very much it's Bisto.

What do you do with the coleslaw? Put it in the burger? Don't get me wrong, I like coleslaw - but there is a time and a place.
Report Dan Chipowski • December 29, 2009 1:49 PM GMT
Only there to jack up the price of your meal imo :)
Report niknak • December 29, 2009 1:50 PM GMT
I quite like dipping my *****in the gravy :)

Report Trading Places • December 29, 2009 1:51 PM GMT
not had KFC for yonks, how much is 3 bits of chicken and *****.??
Report Glossy • December 29, 2009 1:51 PM GMT
I just don't see the point of any of them. I would have happily paid the same price for the meal without them.

I opted for beans in the end and was given a tiny tub - about the size of a golf ball. It just seemed wrong so I left them untouched.
Report Mc Moonbeam • December 29, 2009 1:52 PM GMT
I take the rest home with me ;)

there is a KFC in Sutton in Ashfield that flatly refuses to take your order and you have to queue up at a machine and put it in yourself . Message to KFC not everybody wants robots to take over life and some people prefer talking to playing ninetendo like games when ordering food
Report Glossy • December 29, 2009 1:55 PM GMT
For the record, I had a Zinger Tower Meal which comes with 2 hot wings, a Zinger tower buger, fries, a drink and ONE SIDE.

Considering writing to KFC and asking them to provide a more relevant choice for sides. For example; a pot of jam, a radish, a carton of lemon curd or a scented candle.
Report Glossy • December 29, 2009 1:56 PM GMT
It was 5.49 BTW, filled a hole but the whole 'sides' issue left a bad taste if I'm being honest.
Report Trading Places • December 29, 2009 1:57 PM GMT
^ £5..not bad tbh

http://www.kfc.co.uk/

full of names like Tower ..... MR Daddy ........ **pa

designed to make you think you are going to get more

rubbish imo though I used to like the chicken
Report Glossy • December 29, 2009 2:00 PM GMT
The whole 'tower' moniker is a bit of a sham.

The premise is that you have a normal Zinger burger - spicy chicken in a bag. You then stick a hash brown in the middle and it becomes a Zinger TOWER burger! Illusions of grandeur it seems.
Report Glossy • December 29, 2009 2:01 PM GMT
I was expecting the burger to be at least 2 foot tall.
Report Glossy • December 29, 2009 2:02 PM GMT
FFS - Not bag - bap.

Chicken burger in a bag would just be absurd.
Report ladycakes69 • December 29, 2009 2:02 PM GMT
to be honest who cares
Report Glossy • December 29, 2009 2:03 PM GMT
Come on ladycakes, you seem like someone who's wolfed down their fair share of KFC's.

Report horseman • December 29, 2009 2:40 PM GMT
In fairness coleslaw and beans are pretty standrad american sides for burgers so it's fair do's really.

KFC is only for when your're despeartely hungry and there really is no other option imo.
Report madsimon • December 29, 2009 2:42 PM GMT
Wimpey do the same sides but at least provide cutlery and a plate
Report curious-cat • December 29, 2009 2:55 PM GMT

Get the beans and coleslaw and put all ontop of your *****then pour on tomato sauce. YUMMY
Report Simon Phoenix • December 29, 2009 4:15 PM GMT
I used to work at kfc many moons ago

the gravy is chicken gravy and is made from all the crackling stuff left in the bottom of the machine after it's been used. It is, like alot of fast food, amazing when you make it yourself, but wouldn't fancy chancing it with your average tub. Lumps and skin etc...no ta :)
Report Simon Phoenix • December 29, 2009 4:18 PM GMT
also steer clear of the thigh peices in the buckets. When prepping the chicken your meant to get your finger in and scrap out the ligaments before it's super turbo deep fried, but I could never be @rsed and I'm sure im not the only 1!
Report clarkson • December 29, 2009 4:26 PM GMT
The KFC gravy is about the best thing they do, very good when it's the right consistency.
Report Hoss • December 29, 2009 4:26 PM GMT
I don't care what you say, I love kfc, but I haven't got one near me :(

Yum, that beautiful skin, it's like a drug.

In Cyprus they used to deliver, do they do that here?

I'm going to find out. See what you've done now?

I hope you're happy.

Q. Does KFC offer a delivery service?
A. Unfortunately we dont offer delivery, but many of our restaurants have Drive Thrus or convenient parking to make it quick and easy for you to pick up your KFC.

Now i'll have to get a fekking taxi to deliver it to me.

10 so dding miles, you're costing me a fortune. So I'll get enough for tomorrow's breakfast, lunch and dinner too ;)
Report donemyconkers • December 29, 2009 4:40 PM GMT
lol simon !

I used to work @ KFC and I always ask for no thighs if I have chicken from there ;)
Report jc • December 29, 2009 5:40 PM GMT
I too used to work for KFC, was a manager for one in Manchester for a while. The company gets a bad rap to be honest. Quality standards were always higher than McD's at the time. I didn't like the thighs thing either. Gravy is great with the *****

Chav food for peasants
Report donemyconkers • December 29, 2009 5:52 PM GMT
Yep - I think people presume it all come prepepared and you just fry it.

AFAIK - Only Zinger burgers and hot wings etc come out the freezer, the rest is made from scratch.

I vaguley remember making the gravy by using the bits of coating that had come off during the frying :)

Chav food for peasants

Stuck up prig, I've just spent the best part of £40 to have my kfc delivered, ate it with my greasy fingers, UTV would faint at the very thought :D I enjoyed every bite and if that makes me a chav I will have to start buying Burberry ;)

KFC is great stuff. For a start you don't have to cook it yourself and that's always a plus point for me.

Good Kentucky from a chippy's much nicer though :)
Report d13phe • December 29, 2009 7:10 PM GMT
