by backing something good then when its obviously going to win you gidt most of your winnings to somebody else by being gutless.

So it's best to back something which will tighten in price or loosen in price...?
Report speedypro • December 29, 2009 12:23 PM GMT
It's best to back a winner and lay a loser.
Report Trading Places • December 29, 2009 12:24 PM GMT
just lay liverpool, generally profitable in the long run

I backed Man City last week at 50s.........now laid back at 25 stand to win 3 k if Mancini does it........lose nothing if he doesn't SWEET !

I never quite understand, if a punter has a bet at a decent price, then his price halves or goes even lower either in running or ante post, why he would only lay off to recoup his stake ?? In my opinion in this scenario you ALWAYS lay off more than your stake so you make at least something if your back bet fails.

^^^ I'm talking proper greening up here...where you make dough regardless of the outcome..
Report cunnybobbler • December 29, 2009 3:23 PM GMT
i wouldnt bother if someone offered me a free 200k if man city win the league. no point having a free bet that has zero chance of winning.
Report The Leopard • December 29, 2009 3:27 PM GMT
Putinabox.....is that to win their next game....?
Report Putitinabox&sellit • December 29, 2009 3:28 PM GMT
^^^^ HA HA HA your probably right (I only did it cos i thought Mancini would have an instant impact & their odds would tumble-they're not quite the full package yet)

So you are laying Man C at any odds presumably if you are saying there is zero chance of them winning the PL - can I have 999/1 please? TIA
Report Putitinabox&sellit • December 29, 2009 3:36 PM GMT
If they got rid of Robinho & bought a couple of half decent players anything could happen
Report cunnybobbler • December 29, 2009 5:55 PM GMT
again the obvious argument.

genuinely, yes i would lay man city at 999/1 but im not going lay them because theres better things to lay. man city 100% CAN NOT win the league but im not going to tie my money up for 5 months for less than 4% profit. for a start notts county cant win the league and theyre only 7.0 to lay. why would i tie up my money laying a 25.0 that cant win when i can lay a 7.0 that cant win? but i wouldnt even do that cos its not worth it. ive got my available money tied up various other things at far better odds.
Report cunnybobbler • December 29, 2009 6:00 PM GMT
like ive got a 5k double on a 13/8 thats already won and oxford united at 11/8. then ive got a single on stevenage at 7/1. call me funny i but i prefer having my money tied up for somewhere between a 100/300% profit rather than a 4% profit.
