There are many good children charities out there and I do donate to a number of them however I do like to be selective to the charities I give to so I know where the money is going. Am I wrong to do this?

Children In Need gives out money to many good causes but what bugs me is that for some reason the BBC's Children In Need hide many charities that it donates to. I just cannot understand why they hide it from the public. These great charities below should be shown in the run up to the event.

I am sure the British Public would donate more.

;) ;)

Hillingdon Race Equality Council Hayes
African Families Support Services
Somali Welfare Community Association
Sudanese Development Association
ERITREAN SOCIAL COMMUNITY
African Cultural Association
African Francophone Refugee Assn UK
African Community School
Bengali International
Somali Bravanese Assn
Wandsworth Somali Society
Efiba Arts & African Cultural Development
Hammersmith Bengali Assn
Iranian Assn
Sierra Leone Refugee Welfare Assoc
Somali (UK) Community Association
Sahara Welfare Association
Somali Parent & Children's Play Assoc
Refugee Therapy Centre
African Heritage and Educational Centre
Waaberi Community Development Assoc
Somali Speakers Association
Shpresa Programme

With these great charities I may even revert from donating to the NSPCC and place my funds in the Children in Need Boxes

;) ;) ;)

Do you not agree with these fantastic charities?

If those charities are genuine then only a myopic fool would choose not to give - Children in Need in this country is primarily concerned with improving the quality of lives whereas if the money goes overseas then it might actually save lives

To take the first one

The project will provide Saturday afternoon workshops for vulnerable young people from Black and minority ethnic communities in Hillingdon.

And of other vulnerable young people?

Those great charities are only in London. There are many others.

Why does the BBC hide them in the dark corners?

They should be on the adverts.

well to be fair, they don;'t hide them, in fact they publish them on their website.

They hide them away. I was already asked for the link.

They should show them on the TV so more people will donate.

:)
By:

When: 21 Nov 08 00:46
No, they publish them, available to all, on their website, alongside a much larger number of charities which make no reference to race or religion.

To take the first six

Noahs Ark Childrens Hospice Barnet £54,000 This project will provide a befriending service to support children with
life-limiting illnesses to increase their social opportunities.
Deaf Parenting UK Beckenham £10,000 This project will provide a series of social events for hearing children of
deaf parents who are otherwise unable to access mainstream services
because of their parents' communication difficulties.
Bexley SNAP Belvedere £45,354 This project will provide support and information for siblings of children
with severe disabilities.
Deaf Access Bromley £10,172 The project will provide a parent and toddler group for under 5s to
reduce their isolation and to develop their social and communication
skills.
Greenwich Deaf Playscheme Project Bromley £23,623 This project will provide a holiday playscheme for deaf children and
their families to increase their confidence and well-being.
Bromley Mencap Bromley £45,774 The project will work to match children with learning disabilities to a
suitable childminder.

Good stuff IMO, and hardly 'hidden'.

You did not beleive they existed it seems.

Why do they not make a song and dance about them.

Are you saying people will not give money? I would have thought the public will give more donations.

Refugee Advice Group Birmingham
Midlands East African Community Birmingham

Some Birmingham charities that they give to.

Should I stop donating to the NSPCC? or should I split more funds?

No, I queried your source, good policy in my experience, not something you need to be tetchy about.

And if these charities make you want to give more than fair play to you, it's the kids that are important in the end.

A fair response. I think I better stick to the NSPCC as there are too many charities that are listed for me to spend my time investigating each one to make sure they are not wasteful.

Geldof sent millions in the mid 80s.

Since then, the population of Ethiopia has douibled to 80,000,000 and they are still starving.

May as well send the money somewhere sensible, like my betfair account.
