my 8 year old slept at my missises sisters xmas day night - last night after i'd put him to bed he started screaming and crying - now i went up and he says he's had a nightmare,i ask what about and he says he killed my wifes sisters father in law!!!
i ask why (he's shaking at this point) he says that he punched my son cos he kept turning the tv on!! (in the face).(they both slept downstairs on setees)
now he's shaking and crying so take him downstairs, upstairs he put it accross that killing him was a dream but the punch was real but downstairs in front of mum he changed it to it was all a dream.

now the only way i could settle him was to promise that he would never see this man ever again and that if he goes there i would take him and check this man is not there b4 he goes in.

now there is a chance this was all a dream but this guy is a bit of a tw@t has just got outa jail and would not put it past him.

i'm kinda fcuked off now as u can imagine but am a self confessed lover and not a fighter so going round and "doin him in" is not an option plus he loves his auntie and uncle so dont wanna fcuk that up.

would u do anything or just do wat u've said to ure boy and make sure they never meet again???

thanks.

Jeezuz that's a tough one.. surely in a day or 2 he'll calm down and be able to remember if it was real or a dream?

A punch in the face would leave a mark if it was hard enough for this to be a serious problem.

i think u are right in leaving it till he's kinda "forgot" about it and get the facts so to speak, just never seen him like that b4 - and i know my son very well as i was a house husband from birth till he was 2 1/2.

Your kid is possibly being abused and your first thought was to post this in Chit Chat? Jesus H Christ!

What kind of Father are you?

advise is advise - as much as there is 99% carp on here, other parents oppinions are helpfull imo.

Do what your instincts tell you.

You shouldn't need advice on here.

The problem with ringing the Police is that they will then take all the details as if it really happened, if your lad then remembers it was just a dream or something he watched on TV and the Police have now decided to get involved i.e meeting with the aunt and uncle and interviewing the FIL then it will have repucussions for a very long while.

You could always just have a chat with the bloke and ask if there was any problem that night as your lad is havving nightmares, you may get a better idea after seeing his reaction.

"Excuse me officer, my son has had a nightmare"

Absolutely outrageous reactions on here from big mouthed idiots. The bloke is asking for advice and weighing up his options and he has pr@ts questioning his parenting because he will not immediately call the police over something that may or may not be real.

Never mind that he knows the parties involved and the subtle details, the big mouthed pr@ts on here are obviously much more qualified to judge whether he is a good parent or not

I, for one, have not mentioned the police. Others have.

To come on the Betfair Chit Chat forum to ask for advice makes the OP questionable as a parent imo. If you need advice regarding this, you shouldn't have kids!

The police have specialists who will see his son in a normal enviroment to ascertain if there is reasons to follow up the boys claims.

you have 2 options here

a) Call the police with experience of these matters and either way it puts your mind to rest.

b) Ignore your sons cry for help and laugh it off as a wee nightmare poor soul.

now what would you do Live Forever because its a NO FECKIN BRAINER FOR ME !

hearts - thats such a black n white veiw,by not calling the police immediatly i am not "laughing it off" as u put it i'm getting FACTS.

SHEW D - i'm at work and its on my mind i cant see why getting others opinions is in any way bad parenting or wrong - can u???

again thanks ALL - OPINIONS IS WHAT I'M AFTER!!

All I'm saying is that I'm surprised at your choice of place yo ask for advice.

Maybe a parent or friend would be more suitable rather than a bunch of absolute tools on a immature forum?

^ I am not knocking you,but if I was in your shoes let the experts ascertain the "facts" as I presume you have never had any experience of matters like these ?

SHEW - obv freinds n families have/are being talked too - thought that'd be a given tbh.

hearts - i honestly beleive right or wrong that even with all there experiance my son will open up to me easier than them, when calm.

system dont take offence but its because of parents like yourself who dont go to the relevant authorities that offenders get off scot free and the child has issues in later life.

nah no offence taken - if i did not want veiws i'd not put it on here.

altho abit abrupt live forevers points on the complications with families etc is valid and as much as i value the points of veiw of all,i agree and have decided a day or two to get the facts b4 involving atherities is the right move.

they think you are mental............i had a dream last week that there was a massive fire and that cars were on the verge of exploding....the next day my local swimming centre was burned to the ground with over 100 firefighters fighting the thing........they would have thought i did it if i had told them before hand.
