Report Lisa Simpson • December 28, 2009 10:16 AM GMT
One does.
Report brendanuk1 • December 28, 2009 10:19 AM GMT
10,000
Report toilettennisplayer • December 28, 2009 10:20 AM GMT
10,000 is wrong on both counts .... its not the answer and its not a pallindromic number either !!
Report brendanuk1 • December 28, 2009 10:21 AM GMT

Report positively4thsteet • December 28, 2009 10:23 AM GMT
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 = 9
11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, = 9 (total = 18)
101, 111, 121, 131, 141, 151,161, 171, 181, 191 = 10 (+80) (total = 108 (1000))
1001, 1111, 1221, 1331, 1441, 1551 etc = 10 (+80) (total = 198 (10000))
10001, 10101, 10201,...10901 = 10
11011, 11111, ... 11911 = 10
.
.
.
19091, 19191.... 19991 =10 so 100 between 10000 and 19999. so 900 between 10000 and 99999

So total up to 99999 = 1098?
Report brendanuk1 • December 28, 2009 10:24 AM GMT
one out
Report positively4thsteet • December 28, 2009 10:27 AM GMT
so 100000 to 999999

all will be in the form nxxxxxn wheren = 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 or 9

so how many palindroms of xxxx are there? when we have that we multiply by 9

xxxx - can be:

0000, 0110, ..... 0990 = 10
1001, 1111, .... 1991 = 10
.
.
.
9009, 9119, .... 9999 = 10. Equals 100 in total. x 9 = 900
Report positively4thsteet • December 28, 2009 10:28 AM GMT
Is the answer 1998?
Report positively4thsteet • December 28, 2009 10:30 AM GMT
Region no of palindromes:
0-9 9
10-99 9
100-999 90
1000-9999 90
10000-99999 900
100000-999999 900

Total = 1998

imo

Report positively4thsteet • December 28, 2009 10:40 AM GMT
I went a bt of a long way round. It was just 9+9+90+90+900+900 in the end.
Report V4 Vendetta • December 28, 2009 10:57 AM GMT
What about 1.1 and 2.2 and 3.3....
Report positively4thsteet • December 28, 2009 10:57 AM GMT
